We all know AA most likely has one foot out the door, but it would also tell you that they feel Solly or even Defo can line up outside and still be effective on 3rd down because you don't draft Vea in the top 10 and not have him be a 3 down lineman.

The weird thing is it could work having all 3 play on passing downs. You would just need a legit edge rushing terror lined up with them. We find that guy through free agency and I'm ok with selecting Vea if they feel he's too damn good to pass up.

Ziggy Ansah
Scares me cause he's gonna cost a fortune and a huge amount of his sacks came in only a few games.

THIS!
Despite Vea's size and talents, I wouldn't advocate drafting him. If we played a 3-4, you bet, but we don't. With Buckner, Mitchell and Sheldon Day, I think we're good and should get better inside. Also understand Saleh wants to play Thomas inside more, so a monster like Vea really wouldn't be a good fit. He surely will for some team, though.

He's also clearly a good 10 years older than he says...

This is not a 24 year old...

Having said that given how much money we have and the need at Leo/pass rush I'd have no problem giving him a good sized deal. Maybe some protection if he gets hurt...

I think best case scenario if we were to get Vea is to sign ziggy/lawrence and talib/trumaine in the offseason, trade down to the teens to get another 2nd and grab vea.

Our line would be Solomon, bucky, vea, and ansah

imo that line in their prime would be the perfect recipe against a prime brady.

I watched about an hour of Vita tape last night and went to bed giggling. I challenge anyone to watch his tape and try not to laugh. It's hilarious watching Vita throw around OL like children, or OL hopelessly trying to double, even triple team him.

My buddy says Vita is his cousin and that Vita grew up a big-time 49er fan.

Been saying this all along. Vea and Buck in the middle will free up EVERYONE else on our defense. We can collapse the pocket and create havoc with just 3 or 4 rushers and don't have to blitz that much to create pressures. Whoever our Edge rushers are,(hopefully we pick up Ziggy in FA) will face one-on-ones all day long and should be able to beat their man and get to the QB a lot faster.

Buck gets doubled most plays anyway so all of the above already happens and we still suck!

The only benefit of Vea (and it's a big one) is that you couldn't double both of them, meaning one will effect most plays.

You could still gameplan around it though. Edge rusher would remain a big issue and Solomon Thomas would likely be a wasted pick (unless he learns how to rush from the edge).

I can't see this happening, unless you need your NT to eat double teams (we don't we have Buck) they are very easy to come by.

I do have to point out that Buck would become practically unplayable next to this monster though.

I don't buy that. Someone or something would have come forward by now.

No.

Half his sacks came when he was fully healthy.

When he is, he is one the best pure pass rushers in the league. The dudes a freak of nature and was drafted by Mayhew and has a connection with my man Steve Young.

I think the odds are extremely high that he ends up here and he will be a HUGE and addition.

Good info - hopefully he can stay healthy.
I challenge you all to watch Vita's tape and not laugh. It's chock-full of plays like this one:
