Takkarist McKinley OLB UCLA

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline expects "some sensational testing numbers" from UCLA edge rusher Takkarist McKinley at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Pauline reported his expectation that McKinley runs a forty in the 4.5s -- with the possibility of as low as 4.45 seconds. In addition, McKinley's vertical jump is expected to be at least 37 inches. McKinley ran a 10.70-second 100-meter dash in high school. McKinley may have shoulder surgery after the Combine, but the impending procedure isn't expected to affect his testing.

Dog, when are you coming up with BigBoards and Best Boards like in the recent years? Super curious how you see the prospects.

A little late this year with boards but i will be all over it after the combine. Very excited to evaluate this class. As always will have some strong opinion; and digging through the mountain of prospects

I wouldn't be surprised if he runs fast and jumps high. He's a very explosive player. What he really needs to do is kill the 3 cone and 20-yard shuttle. Those'll be the big ones for him considering he struggled with ankle and hip flexibility. If he can prove himself in those drills I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to 16.

looking very much forward!
On NFL Network Willie McGinest said this is the player he wants to see most.
Going to be out 5 or 6 months after the combine. Going to need to get shoulder surgery. He won't be able to participate in any of the off season program and probably most of not all of training camp. He could drop significantly. Likely there for our 2nd pick.
All i know is , I want us to draft 2 Edge rushers before the 4th round , last year we didn't have a pass rush , Cornelius and Eli couldn't bring the Heat , and Lynch never got it going when he returned , Ronald Blair was probably our best pass rusher when he got on the field

Eli Harold progressed from his rookie year, he's still just 23, a lot of football to be learned and played, I think this year could be big for him..
This guy & Taco are the 2 dark-horse pass rushers in this draft class. Boom or bust.
So we have 2 things going on w/ this guy.

1. EXCELLENT combine numbers. He lacks nothing in athleticism

2. Had a major injury (shoulder).

Anyone have any clue where most people are projecting this guy to go? I think Taco goes in the first, but this guy could go anywhere from the late 1st to 3rd round IMO.

Late 1 to early 2
He's an extremely good athlete, but he still looks kind of chubby. It's weird to think he could get even more athletic if he really works hard because he's already extremely fast, quick & strong.

Agreed - I think the injury is the only reason he may be there at 34. His combine numbers were expected (the guy was a big time sprinter in high school so I thought he may run faster). What wasn't expected was the 34 3/4" arms for an edge rusher on the shorter side. Did anyone see how he looked during drills? His 3 cone and shuttle times aren't great, but hopefully he moved well in position drills.
One concern is that he's not the greatest run stopper. He's ok. I think a 3-4 defense is where this guy belongs, but you never know.
Cameras caught him cursing after he got a 4.6 on his second 40.
