Who TF was saying that b******t?

I wanted him BAD, but he wasn't available with the 2nd pick. Even when Lynch moved up to draft Pettis, Landry was long gone. I guess you could have drafted him in the first but Mike McG is doing a fine job at RT.

Can you imagine him, Barnett and Buckner? Those are the type of players you want to build your defensive line with. Not AA, Marsh and Solly.

A lot of people were saying that in here, go back and read through the thread. A LOT of people

I'm passing on Barnett IMO he's nothing special as a edge rusher.

better than thomas, lol

The way we're moving guys around we'd have Barnett playing NT.

I'll take a wild guess and say Phoenix wasn't onboard with drafting Landry.

I liked him just fine as a player, this team just hasn't had great luck with players who have injury issues over the past decade. Reports about him having back problems and chronic ankle issues explained why his stock dropped so rapidly.

I was messing with you.

Btw, you know who had major flags coming out? Frank Gore

The problem is, when Landry fell, virtually everyone was reporting that it was due to concerns about his medicals and his ankle being a ticking time bomb, not his actual ability to play. Its a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type situation. Imagine if the 49ers had drafted him and he had gone on IR? The same people complaining that the 49ers didn't draft him would be complaining that Lynch blew a pick on an obviously injury-prone player.

If Landy stays healthy then Tennessee got a steal but if his injury issues due eventually catch up with him, it'll be a different story, only time will tell.

I'm willing to guess it was the Titans who started all those medical rumors. LOL

Dude seems perfectly fine...

Told yall he would slide dramatically. 9 was wayyyy too early lol.

Damn wish you told us about the back and knee. Didn't know you had inside info

You're making an assumption that is the only reason he at best goes in the 2nd. He was ROUTINELY mocked in the 20s by national writers but the webzone tried to discredit them. Welp.

Funny how the draft works...guys start playing and now we want to rewrite how things were heading into the draft class.

Teams don't operate on rumors. Any team that had any actual interest in him evaluated the medicals for themselves as well as having their team doctors check him out when they brought him in for a visit. After that they had to choose to roll the dice or not on a guy with potential medical red flags.

For now. Lets see how he holds up in the ensuing years.

If Landry stays healthy, Tennessee will have gotten a steal. If his ankle and back issues catch up with him, it will be viewed as something less.
I understand not wanting to take a chance on him at number 9. I was bummed out but I could understand that we needed our left tackle of the future. Left tackle is just as important as an edge rusher. Especially with the injury rumors. He did have ankle problems and those usually don't just disappear.

But there's no excuse for missing on him in the second. Don't forget we gave up more than the titans to move up to a lower spot! We used 59 and 74 to get to 44. Titans used 57 and 89 to get to 41.

You don't know if Oakland wanted to move down 4 spots.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

These are my thoughts exactly, I still think he needs a proper inside move before he's in the upper echelon of pass rushers, and I argued there would be better options at 9.

Though we should have made him a priority like we did for Rueben and called every team from about 28 onwards.

Sorry I meant the extra picks from 57 to 59(have a wicked bad cold so my brain isn't working so well)

Teams typically are ok trading down a certain amount based on their board. Could be they actually felt they could still get one of the guys they wanted at 57 but 59 would be pushing it or it could be they wanted more to trade with us...or could be we didn't call them :(

I'm choosing to believe Oakland fuked us and we actually wanted to move up for him...let me have this.

I'd have taken him at 9, but I didn't know the 49ers were moving on from Trent Brown. Agree with the bolded, for sure. Securing RT and LEO or SAM in the same draft would have been a hell of a haul in the first two picks. Damnit.

Too many good rushers in the 2019 draft for the 49ers to come away empty handed.

They have to take one, right? RIGHT?
