Harold Landry Boston College DE/OLB

I really like this thread and your input heroism. I'm sold on him so far. Seems perfect for our squad. Couple questions to those who been watching him closely.

He stayed an extra year to improve his draft stock? Or because he wasn't ready?

And how does he compare to Arden Key? Arden is supposed to be the top edge rusher for 2018 but I saw what looked like no bend in his highlights.
He seems to be ranked around 7-8 overall, generally.

The questions I see are 1) why he is being used situationaly 2) on running plays he is getting swallowed up by tackles, has trouble shedding

Was Aldon a 3 down player at Mizzou?

Im curious to know.
Not trying to hyjack the thread but I'm not seeing much as far as blue chip OLB prospects, will this draft class be considered a poor pass rushing class

Feel free to name some guys to watch, I saw that Bradley Chubb NC State is being compared to Derek Barnett

I watched a bit of him. Saw all I needed. Looks amazing. That explosive first step off the snap, fluid hips, lanky arms with strong hands, has me drooling

Yes. He played all over the DL. LOVED Aldon at Mizzu.
Virginia tech consistently going away from Landry

who else should we be watching?

Harold Landry and Brandley Chubb are 1a and 1b for me. I think Chubb is the better player, but Landry is a better fit in our scheme.

Chubb doesn't have the pure speed that Landry does. They're both really good prospects. Neither is going to be Julius Peppers though.

I have to see more games, but at this point, I'd take Landry.

If you want Brandon Chubb he's available. I'd rather keep scouting his brother Bradley Chubb...

Whoopsie.
can someone clear something up for me. Would Landry play LEO or SAM linebacker? He is almost identical size to Anthony Barr at 6'4 250lb. Actually a little smaller. Would be a bit undersized at 250 lb and wouldnt want him to gain too much weight that would affect his athleticism.

When i watch this kid on tape though he looks like a perfect 3-4 OLB but so did Barr and he fits nicely into the SAM role. I love how he takes on blocks, hold the point of attack, and disengage to get to the ball carrier. Reminds me of Aldon Smith's runstopping ability.

I think putting him at SAM and getting Ansah or D.Lawrence at LEO would set our D for being #1 in the future.

Alot of people have him falling to the last 16 picks of the 1st round. We have the ammo to back into the low 20s or late teens to pick him up
