Sam Darnold

Hope all four big name QB's go in the top 10. Good chance we'll get a good player if that happens.
Great news for us. Keep driving players down the board.

The problem is that they need a QB at the moment, I think Alex will be on the market, Sam Bradford will be made available, a big offseason could see a trade for Foles, hard to keep Keenum & Bridgewater as well.

Going to be a fun offseason

Happy in that this pushes a certain top 7-8 player for us, but I don't think this guy is ready. Best case for him is NY if he can sit behind Eli. If he gets stuck with Hue Jackson it will be a mess, especially since he is almost guaranteed to be learning a new system in his 2nd year after Jackson gets canned.

I'm thinking the Browns pick Rosen and the Giants pick Darnold. Browns pick Barkley with their other pick.

Browns have a few big issues to deal with that #4 pick could fix starting at OT with the potential need to replace their MVP Joe Thomas. They also need CB and Safety help or a guy that can do both ....they need more talent on Defense. Just thinking there is a chance Barkley slides past them and drops.

IMO Darnold's a better fit for the AFC North than Rosen.

I'm not. With Tee Martin calling plays. Learning on the job (poorly)... he made the right decision. Helton has an OC that is only capable of recruiting... and that OC is too sensitive to give legitimate feedback.

If your the guy getting the plays from this tool; the Browns don't look so bad.

As an SC alumni, in very happy for him and very sad for his replacement (Fink or Sears). I haven't seen this type of coach coddling... ever. It's like daddy's little girl is the second most powerful coach on the team.

There's no way Darnold won't be the #1 pick. The Browns caught a huge break. Supposedly Rosen's teammates dislike him and the opposite is true of Darnold.

Darnold is one of the best QBs I've seen in years that can hang in the pocket and find his 3rd or 4th read a split second before he's hit. The dude is always looking downfield. The reason for the ints is because he's not timid at all. He'll do that in the NFL too at first, but he'll also make plays. Wentz threw 16 tds and 14 ints as a rookie. Peyton Manning also threw a ton of picks as a rookie.

There's also a slight possibility that with Joe Thomas, Josh Gordon (if actually stops smoking tree in the offseason) and Saquon Barkley at #4, the Browns QB slot might not be terrible.

Darnold also has major ball security issues. He was a USC great QB, but if he goes to a team that starts him in week 1; no one will be singing his praise.

I hate to say it, but I see the next Sanchez more likely than the next Palmer. Sam had a lot of challenges this season but some of those... a good number of them... were self inflicted.

Having an immature coaching staff didn't help at all but he owns a good portion of the concerns.

Edit: And just remember, at the college level... Sanchez had a better arm and threw less interceptions. He also had a weaker receiving core and believe it or not, poorer offensive coaching.

...and also opens up a greater chance that one of the QBs will be there at 9 or 10 and the 9ers can reap the benefits of a trade down.

Last year the Bills got #27, #91 and a the Chiefs first rounder this year when the Chiefs moved up to #10 for Mahomes.

Heck, if the Bills would give up both theirs and the Chiefs' 1st round picks this year (which will be somewhere between 21 and 32) for #9 or #10 in order to take a QB I'd be all over that.

The more a QB looks down the field even while pass rushers are bearing down on him, the more he'll fumble. Most guys just check down or throw the ball away. His instincts are good but they'll have to be tempered.

Sanchez was good when he immediately came to the league, but he had a coaching staff that didn't know what to do with QBs. But Sanchez has also had other chances.

I also don't know why Sanchez is being used as a comparison aside from both being SC QBs. I see Roethlisberger and Wentz, but with the wrong staff he could be Jameis Winston.
