I hate to say it, but I see the next Sanchez more likely than the next Palmer. Sam had a lot of challenges this season but some of those... a good number of them... were self inflicted.

Having an immature coaching staff didn't help at all but he owns a good portion of the concerns.

Edit: And just remember, at the college level... Sanchez had a better arm and threw less interceptions. He also had a weaker receiving core and believe it or not, poorer offensive coaching.

The more a QB looks down the field even while pass rushers are bearing down on him, the more he'll fumble. Most guys just check down or throw the ball away. His instincts are good but they'll have to be tempered.

Sanchez was good when he immediately came to the league, but he had a coaching staff that didn't know what to do with QBs. But Sanchez has also had other chances.

I also don't know why Sanchez is being used as a comparison aside from both being SC QBs. I see Roethlisberger and Wentz, but with the wrong staff he could be Jameis Winston.

I used Sanchez because I've watched him closely. I can't speak very comfortably about accurate comparisons with other programs. I just have seen a lot from Darnold, independent of legitimate excuses, that has me thinking that he better go to a team with a good qb coach and patience. In spite of the adulation, he did not improve this year. And while he was at SC, we all tended to have that under our breath comment, "which Darnold will show up?".
I bet Darnold and Rosen are both hoping they don't go #1 to the Browns.

"Pick the other guy!"

I'm excited to have a story book rivalry between those 2 for years to come. It will be good for the NFL

Lets just hope it doesn't end like Leaf and Manning. Leaf totally imploded on himself.

Yeah I'm hoping for a Brady Vs Manning thing. All the while Jimmy GQ meets em in the bowl to show them what's up.
It's being reported that he won't throw at the combine. Will do the other testing.

Doesn't want to put his mechanics on full display lol

That's definitely going to be the popular opinion. It'll be interesting if he starts sliding in the draft.

I doubt it. He has incredible arm talent. I'd say Andrew luck kinda athleticism. Intangibles for days. It's his hero ball mistakes(Rosen has this issue also) and his god aweful footwork that's his major dings. But just his arm like Allen will get him drafted high.
Probably wants to throw at his pro day where there is more control over the setting. I don't fault him for it at all.

You mean from #1 to #2 ? He's not sliding.

I mean 4-6 range. Anything is possible in the draft. I agree that it is unlikely though

If I were a GM i would've wanted him to throw. Even if his mechanics don't look super polished I could've seen where he is at from the combine to his pro day.
Chavala
I said last month and will continue to say.... Darnold wont go top 10.
