I can tell you one thing he has to fix right now. Pre snap, you can always tell which side of the field he is going to go to. He always looks to that side and doesn't even bother to look at the side the play is going away from. I can literally watch his highlights and practically tell you which receiver he will hit on almost every play. Something that's easily coachable. He is fun to watch and plays a little more backyard Farve style. Watching him is reminding me a little of Utah Alex Smith for some reason. Lots of little dink passes that inflate his stats. Going to continue to follow him throughout the season since all signs are pointing to us needing a QB next year.
Ummm, you must have not payed a whole lot of attention to what he did last year. There isn't a QB in the PAC that is more even with their receiver choice than Darnold; which includes Rosen.
Farvre comparison is accurate, but last time I checked, lock on and Farvre don't exist in the same dimension, let alone universe.
I'm watching what he's done these past few weeks. Go watch his highlights and watch him pre snap and tell me if you can guess which side of the field he's going to try to throw to.

Well I am not going to say I've been following him as a fan of his since last year. As I said, from the 2 games I watched, I could tell you which side of field he was going to. Go watch a video of all of his throws this year so far and tell me you don't see it. If he looks over to the right side of the field, then half ass glance left not even selling it all, you can safely bet he's going right with the ball. Like I also said, it is something that is easily coachable.
Now you're saying if he locked onto his receivers he wouldn't throw picks too? Your example of him not locking onto receivers is the fact he threw 2 picks. I am confused
Watch the game. That's all I can say. I watch a lot of college football and I can tell you how not locking on to receivers may result in a pick. Locking on and throwing it into coverage will get you in trouble but locking on and throwing to the play that is designed to exploit a zone or coverage approach may result in a lot of yardage or a TD.
Locking on itself isn't the issue. It happens a LOT in College and to some extent the NFL. It's when you lock and the play has predictability. In the NFL, guys are too smart to be fooled by a play selection... soo, that's it.
Sam looks around too much. You see this when he holds onto the ball too long or when he's extending a play. He's usually looking at a specific side of the field but he's not locking onto a specific target... unless he's in the process of shedding coverage. That may be what you're detecting in the highlight reels. I'm a PAC guy and I went to USC. I'm not a homer as I'm more down on SC players than most others. Especially over the past couple of years. They are the guys I see most, and I know exactly where they'll fail.
I've been more impressed with non USC QB's since the Leinart era... Sanchez had good year but proved to everyone why drafting a guy with 13 starts may not be a good idea.
Told ya he sucked Geeked
