I agree, but the Davenport hype is worse. Landry is the prototypical LEO for our scheme, yet everyone wants Davenport because he's 6'5" and ran a fast 40. Not attributes we need, we need quickness, bend and technique.

I'll take Chubb if he's there at 9 it otherwise it's Landry all the way.

I couldn't even take Chubb at 9. Wasn't part of the problem we had last year was that our guys could put pressure on the QB, but couldn't seal the deal? This IMO is partially why the Landry hype is so huge. While I'm in favor of taking Roquan Smith over any, Landry makes sense if pass rusher is the pick at 9.

His NFL comparison is Chris long. That's probably a pretty damn good one and I'll admit I haven't watched a full game of chubb. I've just read a s**t ton and heard of a lil discussions on projections etc.. But see that's what I kinda think in my head, Chris long was a damn solid 3 down player.. But he was never GREAT in all capitals as far as pass rushing goes.

So, do we REALLY NEED that? I dunno, my gut says no and take Landry who SEEMS to have the higher ceiling as a pure pass rusher. You know, when we need it most on 3rd downs We already have personnel for a solid base package IMO.

Feel free and jump in anyone, thought this is a good post for people to help chime in with thoughts... Would love to hear guys opinion who have watched tape on him, like atleast two games would be cool lol.

Good point, I'm all in on Landry but think Chubb is the better all round DE - however as you point out that's not what we need.
I want an edge rusher. Whoever the staff think is best suited to the role I'm good with, but Landry's speed is very tempting.

Chubb a more complete player though. I don't think we can go wrong with either way.

IMO we already got base package personnel. We need to desperately get Max pass rushing ability.

Torn between Landry and Smith. Would love to have someone who can rush the passer, but we just signed that kid from SD and he can probably do the same things that Landry can do. I love the idea of Smith next to Foster for the next 10 years. Tough choice and I'm glad I'm not making it, but we should be ok with either player.

Yeah but Chubb...what a name.

I do keep coming back to Landry's speed though. The thought of him attacking the edge and forcing the QB to step back up into Buck/Thomas or throw early into a aggressive secondary is hard to pass up.

My thoughts are, if we get Chubb (very low probability of that) with Solomon Thomas at 3-tech, that still would be a very formidable pass rush combo. Keep in mind we have Pita still on the team and by all reports he's hes developing nicely. He's kind of like a very raw Landry last year that's why he went in the 6th round. If we have Pita coming off the right edge and Buckner, Solomon and Chubb rounding off all the other pass rush positions, I think that is a top pass rush line right there. Draft experts, please correct me if I'm off base.

Yeah it's really hard to think about what our staff sees in Pita and Jimmie Gilbert.
We have no linebackers. Roquan is BPA, a three-down LB, insurance for Foster, and the pick at 9 IMHO. And I like Landry. Wouldn't be mad if Landry is the pick either. Just no Edmunds, Davenport, or Minkah.

Seems like Edmunds can be a solid 3 down player. Got the girth to play base SAM and be next to Froster in nickel.

He could, I just don't like his football instincts like I do with Roquan. His measurables are great, but too much bust potential for a selection at 9. Roquan is practically bust proof. Edmunds in the 20s would be a lot more ideal to counter the risk. Roquan and Foster next to each other would be just as legit and even more so imo. Rather have Landry over Edmunds.

Yep I feel you. Just making sure we see all sides to things don't think he's a true Lynchahan guy either at #9 spot.
