We just wanted one. Can't we have just one?

LOL

I think we'll get a good one. I know Chubb is likely gone to Cleavland with Hue dreaming nasty stuff with Garett and Chubb, but if Landry is there, I think he'll fit the bill. (I'd love to have Chubb though for our edge rusher).

In 1986 we went with Larry Roberts and Charles Haley at DE. In essence we *double dipped* and while Larry was a OK to good DE, it was Haley who shined. I hope if we get Landry, we'll go for another raw LEO later in the draft with possibly a much higher ceiling than Landry (i.e. a raw guy that is bigger than Landry and stronger than landry but just as agile.)

And it's not just about sacks...it's anout getting the QB off his spot and in uncomfortable situations. He has the speed to apply pressure.

I wouldn't mind Chubb, i think he's awesome. I just think Landry has more potential as a volume sack guy and fits more of what Saleh is building scheme wise.

Oh, I completely get the reason to like Landry, I just think there's a lot of rose-tinted glasses being worn.

For me there is no scheme or scenario that could make me pick Landry over Chubb.

Chubb is closer to Garrett than he is to Landry.

I think scheme is important. Pair Landry with a good 3 tech DT that can draw doubles, and you have Landry basically free to go inside and sack the QB if Landry twists inside. Acceleration is important in that kind of a tackle end twist. I remember Cowboy *holding* the weakside guard and tackle and basically freeing Aldon to kill the QB. I don't think Chubb has the acceleration that Landry has to do that particular defensive call. If Solomon can perfect that holding technique, he'll free whoever the DE/LEO for a ton of sacks. Between Chubb and Landry, I think Landry has a slight edge from that point of view, but not by much.
Landry had a 1.60 10 yard split at 252lb and Chubb a 1.64 10 yard split at 269lb it's very close and negligible when you consider Chubbs length advantage IMO.

That's fine, as far as the 40 splits go, but it's not a straight line from a twisting DE's persective. He has to loop around the DT who's drawing a double. It's basically a shart turn after he gets into the Center Guard gap, and that's where (I think) Landry's agility outshine's Chubbs. With that agility, he might get there half a second faster than Chubb and that will make a big difference between a hurry and an interception, or between a throw away and a sack.
These comments from Hue Jackson make me laugh. He wants his cake and eat it too. Ok Hue. Hey Niner fans, you can have this kind of embarrassment of riches too. All we need is an incompetent head coach to go 1-31 in 2 seasons and a criminally mismanaged front office. Oh and we have to exchange our newly found Franchise QB for a string of crappy QB decisions regarding QBs and then run them into the ground and out of the NFL. Easy right? Then you too can have both Myles Garret and Bradley Chubb. Or we can just stick with the Coach and Front Office and QB we have and pick from who is available at #9.

I'll take the second option.

I agree that we probably have the better front office and coaching staff. But I also remember 1984 - we won the super bowl and the next year we were picking 16th in the first round. That pick 16 in 1985 really made a difference from a dynasty standpoint. So while I agree that I'd rather have our staff vs the Browns staff (and they did at one point have Kyle) those draft picks do look delicious as prime rib to a starving man. I hope this is the last time in a long time we're drafting this high, but while we're here, we need to hit it as well as Walsh did it when he picked 16th in 1985.
I keep looking over all these draft scenarios that are taking shape as we get closer to the draft. I keep seeing Nelson going to the Broncos at 5 and Chubb falling to the Colts at 6. Given our relationship with the Broncos, I could see a trade up from 9 to 5 for Chubb. The Broncos could still land Nelson at 9.

That would be sweet if that happened. But I'm resigned to the fact that's a very remote possiblity. A lot of the folks here that know their stuff say Chubb is basically a stronger and bigger version of Landry, so I'd like that definitely -- if we can get him via a trade up.

Colts, Bucs and Bears could all be players for Nelson if he gets by Denver. If they want Nelson the best bet would be to take him at 5 because there is a good chance he could be off the board by 8 at the latest.

If he's still there at 7 or 8, i can see ShanaLynch trying to do a trade up deal for him. But i personally think he'll be a Brown in their 4rth pick, unfortunately.
I would LMAO if the Browns didn't take a QB again and passed on Barkley. It would likely have an unfortunate consequence for our draft, but would be amusing nonetheless. That said, with new GM I think they will get their QB and maybe Chubb at 4 too.

I agree. There are even stories saying they are open to trading out of the first pick. But I think they go QB and then Chubb or Saquon (at 1 and 4). Hue wants his QB. He's missed on Grappolo and McCarron, he's got Tyrod, but I don't think he's a franchise level QB that they really want.

I'd go Rosen and Barkley... Play it safe, spark up the fan base and mob.
Lmao Hue Jackson is obviously trying to shop a pick, some teams covet Chubb over the entire QB class. Imagine the Browns trading out of #4, those f**kers would be set with picks.

They could.. Gonna be interesting. They do got Hyde and Duke. Deep class for RBs.

If the Browns feel good about their RB situation, they might go QB in the first pick and Chubb in the 4rth. Like you said, it would be a very interesting draft if they don't.
