Myles Jack is the only prominent modern LB I've seen that beat blocks with consistency. The amount of hip torque he generated at 225 pounds was incredible. He would jar the s**t out of OL. What's funny is most fans would think those videos show he struggles to shed blocks, which is what people all over youtube were whining about when watching his college videos before the draft. They just don't understand the game. They think a linebacker being good at "taking on" means he takes on the offensive lineman and sheds the block the way a good defensive lineman would. In the scouting world, however, being a good "take on" guy as a linebacker only refers to "beating up" the blockers. They don't expect them to shed, they only expect them to be "physical" and disrupt with that snap into contact.
In the scouting world, Junior Seau, Ted Johnson, and Levon Kirkland were considered the best linebackers in "taking on" at the point.
The exception being with the Sam when he is playing over the tight end. Then they're expected to set the edge.
