They will take who ever it is they see as a better fit to replace foster.

They may have been looking at Roquan to pair with Reuben. Now that Reuben is likely gone, Edmunds whose more versatile may be in play now.
I'm having tunnel vision for this guy now. Not sure I want anyone else in the first now.
LVE has a shot if niners trade down, wouldn't mind it if it means more picks.

Well Roquan Smith has been brought in for a visit, so far Edmunds hasn't had any contact with them. Going off their visits last year I'd be worried if I was a Edmunds fan.

Last year we had the 2nd pick with Garrett as the guaranteed #1. What did we have to hide?

Again look at the track record of last off season, Reuben Foster was brought in. Ahkello Witherspoon was brought in. They wanted Kevin King who was also brought in. George Kittle was brought in. Elijah Lee was brought in, wasn't drafted by the 49ers but he's a 49er now.

There were a few players who weren't brought in. If we didn't bring in Beathard our top qb what does that say? Most important position in football.

I imagine for the most part you will meet with your picks it doesn't mean you won't have some smoke screens. Last year we didn't have any need to with Solly and Foster was a surprise fall in the 2nd. This year we do have to play games at 9.

Roquan Smith at #9– a little high but f**k it. We need talent and leadership in the heart of the D

You're only allowed 30 pre-draft visits, most of the players brought in were 1st to 2nd round picks. Again, there's actually more evidence that the 49ers will draft Roquan Smith, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Denzel Ward and Marcus Davenport than there is Tremaine Edmunds.

Edmunds can play all 3 linebacker positions, which is what makes him so appealing. As far as taking on blocks, he does a much better job than Roquan does. There are several plays well he engages a lineman and disengages to tackle the ball carrier for no gain. Roquan will probably develop this part of his game, but as of right now, it's not even close to Edmunds.

He does need a lot of film work though, but that's why we have coaches. Coach. him. up.

You're not playing him at MLB due to his lousy instincts. He's also not very good at taking on blockers. Neither he and Roquan are. Ideally both should be playing the weakside but if I need a guy to absolutely play the middle, I am taking Roquan without any hesitation. Too many nightmares of Edmunds running the wrong way and Russell Wilson taking off for a long gain because the guy has such poor awareness on the football field currently.

Edmunds might eventually be a better linebacker than Roquan. He isn't one right now. You're basically drafting him hoping that he can eventually perform at the same level in terms of play recognition and real time processing.
So I'm thinking his names already in the envelope

They've been scouting de's heavily. Sweat, Key, Nwosu, Davenport, Landry. For obvious reasons. If They're comfortable with say Nwosu the door is open for lb. You're merely assuming it has to be Roquan because we brought him in. It's not the case. I don't see us going secondary despite the visits.

I still think Landry is the favorite for the pick and we'll gamble on Foster.

I hope they don't gamble on Foster. I love Landry and absolutely want him, but Roquan has to be the guy. Which isn't settling down at all, I like Roquan also.

Foster is done as NFL player since is likely be convicted for 11 years in prison for his latest felony. Lynch has to secure the position by either taking Edmunds or Smith at 9th or trading up at mid round then take Vander Esch. Personally I prefer Smith because he's Patrick Willis 2.0 with same intangibles and skillset.
At this point 'Quan may as well just stop by Santa Clara and pick out his number.

Uh, yup! The only other option IMO is a trade to get Leighton Vander Esch.

I'd be surprised if they went for Edmunds, too raw for our scheme.
We definitely need a linebacker and I would be happy with Smith or Edmunds. I probably would draft another one in one of the later rounds. Can't count on Malcolm Smith since he is coming off an injury. I disagree that Foster is likely going to prison for 11 years. He may get released but even if found guilty on all charges he is likely to get a short prison sentence or maybe just probation since this is his first offense. The 11 years is the max which is reserved for repeat offenders. If the Niners release him don't be surprised if another team picks him up if he is not sent to prison. We have seen this over and over in the NFL. If you can play someone will think you will work on their team. We just saw it in Oakland with Aldon. Teams are always willing to look the other way if you can improve their team. There have been guys implicated in murder, drug dealing, bar room brawls, domestic violence, you name it. The list is endless.
