Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

If he isn't 100% healthy and he performed how he did at the combine. He is an athletic freak, and we shouldn't consider drafting anyone else but him at 9 if he is there.

I'd love it, if he was the pick.

Me too, but I'm kinda leaning/hoping more towards Landry first...I won't complain tho if Smith's the pick

Yeah, we're thinking a like - leaning towards Landry myself, but either and I'll be a happy camper.
If we don't go Smith I really like Malik Jefferson. He's clean. He's coachable. He's very athletic (see combine results). He does still have some learning to do but I think he could play Will and maybe even some Mike in our system.
Wanted Landry but now we need to take Roq

Lynch is stupid if he doesnt

In a couple of seasons we'll completely forget about Foster and his legal troubles as long as we make sure Roquan is the guy we draft.

Saw this awhile back and I am still convinced this is the guy. You're not gonna find a perfect prospect, and this guy is a damn good linebacker.

He could go as high as 6 to the Colts according to Peter King. Ballard wants to rebuild the Colts LB depth chart.
Edge rush is important, but stopping the run is a higher priority. He has to be the pick if available.

By the same token, this class is deeper at LB'er than it is at edge rusher. Could opt to grab a LB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Brick by brick next year's Edge rusher class is a lot better than this year's no need to reach just for need IMO

Of course they are going to say that to avoid tipping their hand.

I get the feeling wyche has no clue who our starting lbs are outside of Foster...
This is 100% accurate.

He a Niner yet?
if Roquan is gone by 9 , we should grab Edmunds if he is there , but still look for another ILB before the 5th round , we need a solid core of LBs to strengthen our run defense , Mike McCray from Michigan could be a solid piece to groom for future action, it's a mystery how long Foster will be gone , and we dont know if Malcolm smith can contribute after being out for a whole season
