That might have had something to do with his personal relationship with Lynch before he was our gm

Smokescreen.

Nah, Thomas was local and Lynch already knew what he was getting.

The 49ers also had far more information on Thomas than they do with any single prospect in this cycle, unless there happens to be someone else that attended classes with Lynch, whose head coach is close friends with him, who has former college teammates already on the roster and with whom the team has already met with twice.
"Private Workout" they really mean house shopping
I'd be happy with R. Smith at 9. But I think we could trade down a few spots, get a higher impact player in Landry and then go Malik Jefferson & Fred Warner in the 2nd & 4th.

I think now the only fly in the ointment for Roq being there at 9 is if the Colts keep their pick at 6... I read articles today that they are looking to trade out...

And we did go to his pro day as well.

I wonder what number and locker he picked?

Over 40 out of 110 mock drafts had the 49ers taking Thomas so it didn't exactly come out of the blue either.

Nope. All athlete, no instincts at all for the position. If he had the football IQ and awareness to match his athleticism he'd be a top 5 pick easily. Dude is like the anti Borland. All speed, nothing going between the ears.

LOL...no, it certainly didn't.

I have 89 players we're confirmed "connected" too...it's about that much each year so I hope fans realize, private visits at most, can be only 30 at most, and those, because they are so close to the draft, can be 'strategy' in large part.
