Lol
We liked him before the Foster implosion.
Nobody should have any issue if he is the pick. On top of his talent this man has flags of leadership and maturity. I am sure we can all give that a big fat My fear is he is gone before we pick!
Him or Landry imo make perfect sense.

Last year, around this time, the #49ers met with both Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson in pre-draft visits. They never met with Soloman Thomas.
The 49ers also had far more information on Thomas than they do with any single prospect in this cycle, unless there happens to be someone else that attended classes with Lynch, whose head coach is close friends with him, who has former college teammates already on the roster and with whom the team has already met with twice.
Yeah I remember shanny saying to Thomas on the phone after the LT drafted him " I told you it was all gonna workout, man" clearly they had discussions during the draft process.

I have 89 players we're confirmed "connected" too...it's about that much each year so I hope fans realize, private visits at most, can be only 30 and those, because they are so close to the draft, can be 'strategy' in large part.
Out of the guys they drafted they met with every single one at se point minus Beathard.
Exactly...but MM and MB (IIRC) only put out tweets on the private visits so it looks like a low % when in reality, it's what you just noted.

I don't know if they have to play hide the ball a lot in this draft, since their position is the 9th pick and they already have their franchise QB. At the 9th pick, there's going to be a lot of non-QB talent (LB, Edge Rusher, OL, etc...) I think you can do the smokescreen stuff for picks 1 to 7, but after that, I don't think it really matters much. After the 7th pick, It's all going to depend on each teams boards and I doubt any gamesmanship stuff is going to net anybody any significant advantage. I mean Phil Simms was graded higher by Walsh vs Montana in the 3rd round, and I hear that Eddie Brown was graded higher by Walsh vs Rice (I think). I think it was a bit more luck (And Walsh's eye for talent) that we got Rice and Montana than smokescreens and gamesmanship.

Its not like Willis emerged from Ole Miss that jacked. He put on quite a bit of weight while with the 49ers. I don't see any reason why Roquan couldn't get up around 240 with a pro strength training program and physically maturing further.
Ultimately they are different types of LBs. I don't think many expect Roquan to be as good as Pat, that is a sky high standard, the similarities are largely in leadership and intangibles.

Exactly. Willis spent nearly a decade in an NFL weight room. Roquan will get bigger as well.
Don't let the giant, old-fashioned shoulder pads fool you. He didn't come out of college looking like the P-Willy we all remember.

He's more deion jones than Willis imo. I will say Willis wasn't full blown beast mode right out of college either.
Smith just turned 21, so he's not done with his muscle development just yet.

I can agree with all of that. I do think Willis was built a bit more solid coming out, but your right, im sure Smith can bulk up.
