Nice. It's much much easier to find a coverage LB in today's game. Far far harder to find an ER or stellar interior OL players.
The college game is loaded with these hybrid LB/SS's used to defending spread offenses. That's great for us in a deep draft.
Plus this potentially pushes QB down to us which also gives us trade-back options.
Losing out on Roquan Smith would not be the end of the world.

Assuming the draft goes as planned and no one unexpectedly falls to us I think that would be the best way to improve the defense.

If Evans is really falling to the 40s then I prefer Landry and trade up for Evans. Problem is there is no way of knowing in advance if Evans will fall within range for us to trade up for him, and Roquan would be sitting there at 9 and guaranteed to get him.
Ok the Landry page is catching up with this one at 190 pages now. This one at 195. If the Landry page by Thursday night is ahead them we go Landry.
But I still think Roquan is the better player by far and prefer that he is the pick based on his talent alone and BPA.

It's really a tough decision to make. I'll be content with Nelson, Smith, Landry or Fitzpatrick.

I had this feeling for the past few days that the Colts are going to take Roquan at #6. If that happens, want a trade down with NE fo their 2 1st RD picks (plus maybe a 4th or 5th).

Man that sucks ! I think that there is a real chance that the fan favorite roquan smith won't be there at our pick 9 . There is buzz that the colts and bears love roquan . There is buzz that the niners love roquan and edmunds . I think some fans might be upset if we draft edmunds but I would be ok with either one or even Landry but I don't want us to draft a safety .

Lol. No and I'm sure it sucks. But I think if chubb or Nelson is there you just got to pull the trigger. I think your boy Minkah or even Ward make more sense than Smith. Just my opinion of course.
