Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

What if they have Roquan graded as high as all of those guys? NDT has him ranked as the #3 prospect in the draft. Gabriel has him as a top 5 prospect. I don't expect them to draft him but would not be shocked if they did.

Nice. It's much much easier to find a coverage LB in today's game. Far far harder to find an ER or stellar interior OL players.

The college game is loaded with these hybrid LB/SS's used to defending spread offenses. That's great for us in a deep draft.

Plus this potentially pushes QB down to us which also gives us trade-back options.

Losing out on Roquan Smith would not be the end of the world.

Trade Bait IMO.

IMO they have been all in on Edmunds for awhile. They want the 49ers to come up to 6. and then still have a shot at Edmunds at #9 IMO.

Hope the 49ers dont bite.

Might mean that the FO have already gone through their rounds of seeing who wants to trade (up or down). Now everyone is guessing who everyone else wants.

Everything at Colts sucks. Fixing their lines are (Nelson or Chubb) more important. Unless they want Luck to be unlucky again, they would be wise to go Nelson and focus more on the protection...fixing the Dline should be their 2nd priority or are they gonna try to find the next RJF

Which is why BPA makes the most sense for them. Along with trading down again if they can entice someone into it.

If Rosen or Mayfield are sitting there at #6, its going down.

What makes you think they favor Edmunds over Roquan?

Trade all our picks for both. Call it a day.
Peter King gave the 49ers Roquan, an excellent omen for Roquan proponents as King is well connected inside Santa Clara.

9. SAN FRANCISCO—ROQUAN SMITH, LB, GEORGIA
As a sideline-to-sideline playmaker in this draft, he has no peer. I gave McGlinchey and cornerback Denzel Ward serious consideration here too—as are the Niners. But I passed on McGlinchey because of the Niners' belief that Joe Staley, who will be 34 in August, can play two more seasons at a good level. And the need for Smith, particularly with the uncertain future of linebacker Reuben Foster, could be great in defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's scheme, where athletic playmakers are a must at linebacker.

He also had a quote from John Lynch:
"This year it seems like there's no normal," San Francisco GM John Lynch said Saturday. The Niners pick ninth in the first round. "I'm having our analytics guys go over every scenario we could face at nine, and there could be 50 of 'em."

After thinking about it more and more. I think this is the pick. If he's taken then I'm guessing they go Landry. Can't see them going safety or cb in the first. We have some good competition at safety, and cb should be set for this year.
