Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

Hmm, Kamara went with the 67th pick....Why does that sound familiar
I really hope we take Roquan over Edmunds. People are saying Edmunds has a huge upside because he is only 19, but Roquan is only 20, and is already a great player, whom Edmunds hopes to be. So you could say, because he is also young, that Roquan has huge upside. In one year, Edmunds has a lot of catching up to do just to get to Roquan's current level. Why take a chance on "IF" Edmunds will be a stud sometime in the future, when Roquan already is.

It might not matter as the Colts are set to take Smith at #6.

Edited: Thanks, Ninerjohn and highway.

Colts pick 6th and a lot depends on who is available. What if the draft goes Allen, Darnold, Mayfield, Barkley, and Rosen in the top 5. Do you really think they would take Smith ahead of Chubb? I also could easily see Indy moving down

Colts are drafting at 6, but same difference...until just the past half week or so RS was just being assumed to be available for us at 9..,.but one of the Big 3 non QB,s would be in the picture also....TB at 7 or the Bears at 8 are good possibilities for RS also...just glad that we finally get some closure 3 evenings from now.

If Smith is not available - I can now see a Landry/Edmunds situation at #9.

I could see the Colts picking Roquan, but I think if there's a QB there they trade down again, and if Chubb's there they pick him. Just a team with a ton of holes.

I'm not sure the fit is there for Roquan to the other teams, they all either want bigger LB's (and Edmunds is likely to be there) or already have their LB corps sorted.

In theory a team (like the Raiders) could leapfrog us, however there's a cost factor involved with trading up when there are potential franchise QB's around.
I really don't get the hype for Smith. Is he good yes, but so were a lot of people on that defense. I feel like if you're going to be great if you're on a team of good players you got to really stand out and he does not . We've been blessed with linebackers here in San Francisco Patrick Willis Navarro Bowman Ruben Foster... those guys fly in their attack and there's almost no hesitation once they commit and they look faster than everybody else on field . When I watch Raquon Smith I don't see that. I think there are plenty of linebackers in the draft as good as he is that we can get later on in the day

I like Smith and Landry for both. Hope we should draft that either it.

Buzz is building, pretty good chance he's gone by our pick.

I'm more curious as to who slides IF Roquan goes before our pick! Derwin to the Bucs I'm betting too

I think this is smoke. And, since I think the first four picks will all be QBs (either by the existing team or one moving up), it is going to leave Chubb or Saquon falling into their laps. If a QB is still on the board, which I don't believe will happen, they are going to trade down. The Colts are in full rebuild mode, and they need as many assets as possible.

I agree with this, IMO, I think the Colts are going to take Barkley if he's there. Now that Frank Gore is gone, they took a little bit of a hit in the running game. I do believe the threat to take Roquan Smith is Chicago, I think Fangio wants his Patrick Willis. I pray to god that I'm wrong and I hope Smith falls to the 9ers by a miracle.
