If a QB is still on the board, which I don't believe will happen, they are going to trade down. The Colts are in full rebuild mode, and they need as many assets as possible.

I agree with this, IMO, I think the Colts are going to take Barkley if he's there. Now that Frank Gore is gone, they took a little bit of a hit in the running game. I do believe the threat to take Roquan Smith is Chicago, I think Fangio wants his Patrick Willis. I pray to god that I'm wrong and I hope Smith falls to the 9ers by a miracle.

Unfortunately yes I don't think Smith will last. We'll most likely trade back and pick up LVE, maybe Edmunds.

Would be a dream scenario. If 4 QBs and Roquan are gone before our pick the shear # of blue chip non-QBs available at 9 would be incredible.

Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, Rosen, Roquan, Chubb, Barkley and Nelson?

If Smith is gone I would be sad, but that means we can still take Landry or even Nelson may drop in that case - hell some mocks have Barkley and/or Chubb falling lol. Either way a top 5 guy should be there for us. I mean - we have enough holes so whoever it is should only help lol

If you're drafting Edmunds, best case scenario in a year or two he is who Roquan is as a player right now. A few years after that maybe he develops into an even better player but you're also taking the risk that he never progresses beyond what he is right now, an outstanding athlete who doesn't possess natural football instincts or awareness.

I'd rather just take the guy who is game ready from Day 1.

If Smith is gone at #6, pray that maybe we got a shot at Nelson at #9.

This man gets it. Got to put aside the illogical prospect loyalties. This would be an amazing scenario for the Niners. Especially if they want to consider a small trade back.

CLE - QB
NYG - Barkley/QB
NYJ - QB
CLE - Chubb
DEN - QB (maybe with trade)
IND - Smith/Barkley
TB - Nelson/Fitzpatrick
CHI - Nelson/Fitzpatrick

Also, if Lynch truly wants to trade up. It potentially makes getting a move for Chubb, Nelson or Barkley much more likely.

Yeah I could get behind moving up a spot or two if there's someone they HAVE to have.

The best case for Niners here is if the NYG go QB and Smith goes to Indy. That very likely pushes one of Barkley, Chubb or Nelson to the Niners. Would be an incredible coup.

I think they are in a great spot to let the draft come to them. I feel that it is pretty likely that Allen, Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, Chubb, Barkley and James all go before the 49ers pick. I don't buy the rumors that Indy will take Roquan at #6, I think they are angling for another trade down due to how many holes they have on that roster.

I think they either snatch up Chubb or Barkley or with both of those guys gone that means a QB is still on the board and they end up trading down with a team that wants that quarterback.

I can't envision a scenario where one or more of Roquan, Fitzpatrick and Landry aren't on the board when the 49ers pick at #9.

I know, but I keep reading top 8 picks = 4 qb, chubb, barkley, nelson, and now smith, that leaves one spot. lol

I still think there will be some trades 4-8 anyway (bills, cardinals etc so it will be interesting. I do agree with the4qb, barkely, chubb, nelson being likely top 8 picks tbh. The last spot is really the one up in the air lol

If a qb drops to us hopefully we get some trade bait, but i really think any trade up for a qb will happen before our pick.
Let's keep this thread longer than Landry's. Coming down to the wire and Landry has almost closed the gap

Yes, I love Smith personally, but we really could use the talent almost everywhere lol Just like you said - then i wouldn't mind a small trade back. Get a couple extra picks, and still get a guy like Landry, Ward, James, etc.

Honestly it will be hard to go wrong with the first round pick. This regime will be defined by the next 4-5 picks in this draft imo. We really need to hit a few more home runs.
