You should've told Lynch, what's wrong with you
I encourage people to actually watch this kid today and try to learn a thing or 2 about football instead of relying/waiting for PFF's quirky #s to come out.

Not sure what random is implying about his game or why he's assuming PFF will grade a certain way.

Allen played ok. Some good and some bad. He was getting some nice pressure with an inside move from the right but there were plenty of snaps where he was blocked out of the play and even had a TE push him off the line on a 3rd and short run. He should be winning those every time.
The PFF stuff is used in the wrong context alot of times.....so much so that certain posters go as far as suggesting we dont even have to watch the games and can just go off of PFF gradings and snap counts.

And I love PFF stuff but not to the point where numbskulls are going to compare the snap counts of a versatile LBer thats going out covering passes during many of those snaps to a DE thats hitting a wall of Olinemen every snap ... as if we can accurately compare how players are doing with numbers after a few games.

As has always been the case...nothing beats the eye test, hence, the reason I encouraged people shortly before kickoff to actually watch him.

Well PFF does track pass rush attempts. I agree watching a player actually play is the best thing to do.
Allen has been as good as I thought he would be early on. I don't think he's been on Bosa's level. Using PFF or the eye test. But he or Burns surely should have been the Raiders pick. Lol

Nobody would be upset if Allen was our pick and he was producing the way he has thus far. Both Bosa and Allen can be great at the same time. This doesn't have to be a thing.

Ok I guess that explains it. I thought you posted that after the game and I was curious what you were seeing.

PFF is definitely a nice analytics tool but their grading is very questionable at times(specifically when it comes to OL imo)

They have to make a lot of assumptions like when there is a breakdown in communication or someone has a mental error, I don't think they have a way to account for that.

Don't recall who it was but it was obviously a few years ago when Boone was still here. PFF was talking about how he hadn't surrendered a single sack or pressure in the last X amount of games. One of those games he totally missed an assignment and blocked nobody as the guy he should've blocked went in for a sack(or pressure don't recall end result) but it was clearly an awful play by Boone yet PFF didn't punish him for that play because he didn't engage the defender so therefore didn't win or lose on that snap.

I've also had issues with their grades when they seem to punish guys imo highly excessively for penalties. Kwon's grade week 1 is a great result of that. I understand it's a double edged sword where in theory a defender can just keep committing PI cuz he's getting beat so you have to punish them for that but on the flip side some penalties don't show how someone played.

I really wish PFF peeled back the curtains a bit and let us know how they get their grades. I think there is some stuff out there but it's still ambiguous in some parts in terms of what weight they use on X vs Y.

As far as Allen goes he's going to be a very good player in this league, that much is clear. He seems like a great kid and I'd love to have him on our roster but Bosa is just what the doctor ordered.

Lol straight up. At first I thought maybe raiders had some geniuses going with the guy many slept on. But has clelin done anything yet? I haven't watched their games closely . Just red zone . But haven't seen anything myself.

The thing with Clelin is yes he will get better. But he's much more developed and closer to his ceiling than Burns or Allen are. And those two are already more impactful.

It does take time for DLinemen to develop but you're correct. Ferrell is a good player and good person but he simply didn't have the traits that Burns or Josh Allen have.

That's gotta sting for Raiders fans to see both of them playing at higher levels. They should have traded down honestly.
bro, how did the Raiders do that? LOL and I liked Ferrell, but how do you draft him over Burns and Allen?

This edge class so far is living up the hype. Bosa, Burns and Allen look sweet; Chase looks like a steal in the third.

My board was a revolving door of Bosa, Burns, and Allen with my favorite scenario being if we could have traded down and got burns. Happy with Bosa though I wish we had gotten AJ brown in the 2nd over Deebo.

Couldn't agree more. I can't wait to see a healthy Bosa now, imagine when he starts turning those almost sacks to sacks, kid would have at least 5 right now
