Minkah Fitzpatrick - CB/S, Alabama

Cause he's not good. I've been very outspoken on how completely overrated this guy is. I don't know like you what people are seeing to even mention Jalen Ramsey. Deshon Elliot is better than Minkah hands down.
Teams will draft him to play safety. We have Colbert. He will likely be a nickel safety here. No thanks, unless Colbert flames out drastically

I brought up Ramsey cause like Minkah some if not majority thought FS would be where hes best suited at the next level.

I say get a CB in FA since Spoon is making peanuts and if not then find another CB in the draft.

how is he not that good yet he just was voted the top defensive player of the year in all of CFB? Takes home the Bednarik & Thorpe awards? I mean are we comparing him to Bama DB's in the past?
Watch the A&m game. He shadowed Kirk for a good portion of the game. Outside & in the slot. Kirk finished with 4 catches for 52 yds & 1 td. When matched up with Fitzpatrick he got him once on a beautiful move for a 25 yd gain, but that was about it. Fitz held him to two catches for 32 yds.
It's all there on the tapes. you can look at his sophomore year, but he's crushed it this year, and improved so much you have NFL GM's foaming at the mouth. Not sure if any of you all watch the CBS college game day during the midweek when Brian Jones & Rick Neuheisel broke down game film on this guy? Did anyone watch the post Heisman show?
2016 his soph year 66 tackles with seven passes broken up and six interceptions all while playing CB & Safety. showed his versatility here. He's a prototype free safety in this day and age, in which he can drop over slot and play man, or play pro off-hash, or roam as center fielder. Good size, speed, athletic ability, high football IQ, play-maker. Would be an instant upgrade.

Ill just say this.. Like most 49er fans think we wont take Barkley... I bet you Lynch wont take a DB this high either.

Sorry I could not care less about college awards.
Jim Thorpe winners
2012 Johnthan Banks Mississippi State [8]
2013 Darqueze Dennard Michigan State [24]
2014 Gerod Holliman Louisville [25]
2015 Desmond King Iowa [26]
2016 Adoree' Jackson USC

And in my opinion Desmond King being the only one who will achieve much in the pros. When watching the limited film I can on him I don't see someone who can roam center field and who is average at best in man. He is a solid tackler, good edge defender who is best served in the nickle or at strong safety. I do not see the top 5 talent that Ramsey or Adams had. Minkah will be a solid safety but if he gets drafted to play Corner I just don't expect him to amount to much of anything.

And Kirk has not had a good game all year cause of the QB situation so limiting him isn't something to brag about.

I take Fitzpatrick. Shut down corner with versatility is hard to find.

I don't think we'll be picking inside the top 5 though. I see us winning atleast 2 of our last 3 probably falling to 8th or 9th in the draft. Which puts us in range to pick Nelson.

I think everyone understands that the two of you don't like him and that's fine you don't need too. Just like everyone else don't need to agree with you. Hero I believe you can find most footage of him playing outside CB last year cause this year he played primarily Safety and Nickel. I can't name specific games cause I don't remember, but from all the Bama games I've watched last year and this year the guy played fantastic wherever he lined up. YouTube should have full games of Bama and that's the only way you can get the full picture of this guy as opposed to just highlights. For the he's not good comment, the entire CFB world disagrees. Don't think you can win both the Thorpe and Bednarik award by being not good
Doesn't hVe the quickness to play CB in the NFL better suited at safety and we already have a million of those

He's a great safety and a good corner. He's not remotely near worth a top 5 pick as a CB. He isn't close to the athlete Ramsey or Lattimore are - he doesn't mirror well for a corner and he was beaten repeatedly against Renfrow when he played corner against Clemson in the National Championship. He tackles well, can organize a defense, and has pretty good ball skills. Some team is going to draft him in the top 20 to play safety. No one is drafting him that high to play corner.

Why do people bring up CFB awards? The Jim Thorpe award I already showed isn't any measure for NFL success. Bednarik is the same damn thing. Some good players win it and some nobodies win it. And the entire college football world thought Justin Gilbert, Dee Milliner, Mark Barron, Morris Claiborne, Dre Kirkpatrick, Calvin Pryor and Kenny Vaccaro were future superstars... lot of bama players there weird

If that happens I am happy. If there is not an ER on the board when we pick, build the OL.

I brought it up because you said he isn't good. The awards given to him is for the BEST defensive back and BEST defensive player in all of college football. Nowhere did I say that means he's a future NFL superstar
I will say everyone in the media seems to love him lol.
