Difference is he played. And he played at a pro bowl level. 80+ yds and a TD in their playoff game. Quoted from your own link.

AJ is clearly the better "wide receiver" in a traditional sense, but maximize Deebo's skillset in San Francisco. With how our offense is run and with who we have at quarterback, Deebo better suits our needs.
