Tremaine Edmunds - LB - Virginia Tech

Can you have a plan with Foster's situation up in the air?

I think you have to plan to replace your entire LB corps pretty much. Bring in a guy to develop at MLB in case Froster can't go. Bring in someone to replace Malcom Smith on the weakside in the near future. A SAM that can be an upgrade over Harold....etc.

I think if you draft Edmunds then it is with the idea that he will play the weakside eventually.

I'm surprised nobody has tried to project LVE as an edge rusher lol. I mean, he's got the measurables as well, if that's all you're looking for...

As an athlete, LVE is between Edmunds and Landry so he may be able to learn to play on the edge, but it's a projection and he's already a good inside linebacker. Edmunds is a superior athlete with longer arms and is younger, so it's more likely that some team will try to convert him but he's probably better off as an off ball linebacker similar to Anthony Barr.

I believe tremaine edmunds is gonna be the pick and I'm cool with it . Some people might be upset but who gives a f**k what they think ! Albert breer says he has heard that the niners love edmunds and they have been connected to him the past 3 weeks . Plus I don't think roquan smith will be available at pick 9 .

Breer also thought the bears would take Watson at 4 and the jets would draft Trubisky last yr.

This is the boat I'm in as well. I can actually see Tremaine being a high level OLB in a couple of years, and choosing him may indicate where the FO see the progress of the rebuild ie, it's only year 2. He seems like a really good guy as well, good background with professionals in the family, which can't be understated.
Brett Kollmann mock Edwards to us at #9

How many times does Edmunds take the cheese against McVay and his barrage of jet, orbit and boot actions? Saleh and Ryans have to get that sorted out from the jump if he's the guy. Edmunds has instances where he demonstrates requisite eye discipline against cheese, so maybe it's coachable to an extent:

Rewatching the Pitt game. Edmunds was is so good in that game.

I missed this GT game. They threw tons of cheese at VT and Edmunds. Some plays he looks solid, others he's completely lost. He struggled with contact balance and a lot of time on the ground in this game. That's a little disconcerting.

Irony of this highlight is it also shows part of his issues with that misstep inside before breaking outside. He gets away with it in college but in the nfl that's giving up a td.

The ghost motion had him leaning. A lot going on that play with the G lead, ghost and jet motions, etc.

You know who uses those? McVay lol.

I'm starting to think Edmunds is the pick - especially if Roquan goes earlier to the Colts.

Why? Dude is straight up vicious. His tackle rate is like 125%. He'll destroy you in the backfield and if you flee for the sideline he'll always beat you there and then make you pay.

What helps me is thinking he'd replace Harold at Sam and Coyle in Nickel

When he sees a play he makes it, the problem is he flat out whiffs on a lot of plays because he doesn't appear to understand where it is going. You can find big plays that happened for the offense because he blew the assignment on an almost game by game basis.
