Edmunds is the superior prospect between him and Roquan simply because Roquan is a quitter. Watch the last drive in the bowl game as he clearly shows he either ran out of gas or quit when it mattered most when he and his defense needed to make a defensive stop. Stay away from Roquan. He looks the part of a Raider anyway. Guy is way over rated too.

Edmunds Must be the new flavor of the month for those that read mock drafts but don't watch college football

You can't teach awareness.
There are size / speed athletes that come in every year and bust because they blow assignments. That is what loses games.

Its why the Patriots dumped Jamie Collins. Size/speed freak that balled out for them but was too undisciplined and gave up too many big plays due to mental lapses. That was the book on him coming out of college as well. Superb athlete, limited instincts.
You either have those top notch FBI's or you hope to be athletic enough and guess well enough to make up for the deficit.

I'll tell you what, I am liking him more and more and I don't jump on bandwagons. I wasn't on the Solomon Thomas bandwagon. I think this kid Edmunds is a legit player and is exactly what we need at the SAM LB spot.

FWIW the two mocks I've seen from nfl.com both have us taking Edmunds.

Yeah they are making a lot of silly comparisons this year.
Urlacher was a college safety who moved to linebacker in the NFL. He was heavily praised for his outstanding natural football instincts, a guy who was seemingly always around the football. That continued in the NFL.
Not sure whats up with Lance Zierlein this year but his player comparisons are all over the place and most of the evaluations Ive seen are largely over the top negative. If you go by those, only 10 guys or so are actually going in the 1st round.

Yep, that's me, lol.... I was never big on college football anyway, but I use to at least watch the bowl games. Now it's just the Senior Bowl and the Combine for me. The college game and it's rule changes have evolved it into something I don't even recognize anymore. That said, I like Edmunds in the 2nd, but I think he's gone way before our late 2nd rounder. Maybe if we trade up, but I have a feeling he may go in the 1st round the way things are shaking up with the draftniks.

That's exactly what it is. Omg he's 6'5" *shoots up draft boards*
Omg he's 19 *shoots up even higher*
That's not to say he isn't a good prospect but he's not a top 25 prospect. People are basing it mostly on his potential to turn into a great LB and at 9/10 you want more of a sure thing.

The dudes in here criticizing Edmunds are the same guys who love Roquan. You don't have to choose. You can like both for different reasons. Or you can like neither for different reasons. This doesn't have to be a thing. The likelihood that either ends up on the Niners is not very good.

In what world is Roquan Smith a "sure thing"?! C'mon man. He's a good, not great prospect. Same with Edmunds.

I have been pumping the breaks on the hype for this kid, but at the same time, he is pretty good for a 19 year-old. Won't turn 20 until May 8.
