I dont understand. Fitz has been playing well

Fitzmagic is powerful but fleeting. Miami is being smart and getting out of in front of the inevitable collapse that is coming where he goes from HOF level performance to playing like Ryan Lindley.

Smart would be letting him start Vs the Jets. Instead he gets to face the best defensive linemen in the NFL

I just fear them pulling him for Fitzmagic if he stalls out since they are still in playoff contention. Maybe that was throwing off their plan
Was listening to Move the Chains broadcast today and they brought up a valid point, this coaching staff and front office are tied to Tua. Might as well see what you got with him now and go thru the growing pains this season then waiting until next season when their jobs will probably be on the line. Why go 8-8 this year with a old QB when your franchise QB is on the bench? Get him some experience now so you will have a decent idea what you have next offseason.
Yeah as long as Tua is healthy there's not much downside. The teams ceiling is just as high with Tua as with Fitz.
You get Tua experience in meaningful games, let him get acclimated with the young o line and receivers, get fan interest as high as it's been since Marino, and accelerates the growth of this team by a full year as opposed to him sitting. Plus, if they do struggle, which is probable, they get a higher pick to pair with what should already be a high Texans pick. They could be ready to roll in a year or two if they nail a few picks.
The growth of their offensive line has made this all possible.
Hypothetically, let's say the Dolphins decide to draft Fields or Wilson. What would you be willing to give up for Tua?
I don't think this will happen, I believe they should and will take Sewell. But, I would give up a second and a filler for him. He looked absolutely awful yesterday, but he was known for making quick decisions and getting the ball out fast, exactly what we are looking for. Would love for him to become available but don't see it happening

Jesus.. do people really think they're going to give up on Tua after a handful of games? He played well this season.. he didnt push the ball downfield much, but he looked solid considering he hasnt played football in almost a year and a half.

I state pretty clearly I don't think they will. BUT, this will be the last time for a while they have a pick anywhere near this high and if they fall in love and think Fields or Wilson is better than Tua, and a franchise qb for sure, they should take them.
They probably will not value either much higher if any than Tua, and will take Sewell then a receiver in the first.
A lot of folks down there are not happy with him at the moment, especially with the year Herbert had

I guess if I was in that situation on the inside and I KNEW that Tua wasnt special, I would strongly consider it. But both Fields and Wilson would have to pass every test with flying colors. Wilson's injury history and slight frame already worry me if I'm a GM, but then again, Tuas injury history scared the s**t out of me too.

So from my perspective, if I'm a GM, Wilson is already scratched from my board. If I truly dont believe that Tua is special and I believe in Fields, then yes, I pull that trigger.

But now what do I do with Tua? I would trade him immediately. I dont want there to be any question as to who my quarterback is and I dont wanna create a rift between teammates.

I agree. You almost made the playoffs. Trade Tua asap while you can. Then pick up Fields. There will be a handful of teams that might be trading their QBs this year - Falcons, Lions, Jets, Jaguars will have new coaches and/or gms. Not too mention other teams that may trade such Eagles or Minnesota.
