Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio St(The Politics Free Thread)

I take it you reference Herbert for purposes of a trade? Dunno, maybe trade the pick to someone who likely believes in Bosa more, then pick up one of the other edge rushers and, hopefully, a receiver or cornerback. Failing that I would take the best edge who looks like he can get through a season.

Oh they could still screw it up by taking an edge rusher. Not all great college players translate to great pros. They have to pick the right guy.

That's not really a screw up imo. You can't pick a player based on hindsight which is how drafts are usually judged.

If they miss on the pick then it's bad news for us, but aslong as they get one of the 5 mentioned above I doubt there will be too many complaints. If they fail to get any this place will explode.

Burns is the answer

All i know is I can't wait to dig into the tape end of season to figure out which guy is my oneitis for this draft season. If we're picking #1 overall I find it hard to believe anyone can beat out Bosa. That guy is a rare combo of size, solid athletic ability and technique...

Injury concerns are troubling but you take that risk. Anyone can get hurt and that's what sucks about this sport but it's a part of it. Can't avoid taking the better player because you're worried about him getting hurt. Frank Gore did ok for us.

Totally agree, I was more so basing my answer off me thinking that we will possibly win 2-4 more games and won't be in the hunt for Bosa. Now iF we had #1 overall, yep you run to the podium for Bosa.

Dont agree, guys. this is not a case of being worried about him getting injured. This is a history of injury which has a good chance of continuing.

But the thing is, Bosa is giving himself extra time to rehab and heal. He was suppose to be up and ready to play in the college playoffs if Ohio St. made it. But IMO did the right thing to heal his body and get ready for off season workouts which we all know is a long process. Sure his family has a long line of injuries, but IMO you can't base if he'll be injury prone like the rest of his family. For one, 1st round picks have been injury prone but the only difference is not everyone has a family history like Nick Bosa so I don't think it's fair to judge Bosa off that. IMO

But my way means I dont get so disappointed if we dont get the #1!

But Gore had a history of injuries. Reggie Bush had no injury concerns far as I recall...how did that turn out?

Bosa was healthy his whole college career until this injury and I'd rather see a groin/hernia type of injury especially if he's taking his time healing from it. His knee injury in HS was long ago at this point and just ACL so it's not like some of the other major knee injuries we've seen impact players down the road. He's obviously played great before this last injury and has all the tools you want in the NFL.

That type of talent & technique combo I think you have to take him.

But yeah...I don't see us losing enough. As unlucky as we've been turnover wise it has to go our way eventually...tho in the process it would be not going our way since we'd pick lower as a result

Bosa has a long list of injuries - I'm worried it's going to continue. I say pass and go for Farrell instead.

How long we talking? Knee in HS and this recent injury. What else has he had?

Yeah, I think that's about it. It just seems like he's injury prone.

to be fair, Gore was a 3rd round pick iirc. Bosa would be first or second overall. And Bush was massively overrated especially here where a number of posters wanted us to tank for him. But as you say, likely the question wont arise.
With 3 winnable games in a row I doubt we will be in a position to draft Bosa unless he slides down a few spots due to injury concerns. There are other edge rushers who can help and you never know what can be found in later rounds. I think we need to draft one in the first and another in 4-7. The Giants will go after a QB but the Raiders may go after an edge guy with their first pick to replace Mack. The Cards need everything but QB so who knows what they will pick.

The Cards will probably go CB with Peterson asking for a trade.

I'm not for tanking as I have stated on that thread. I just hope that if we win the next 3 games ( which we could) that the Rams or one of the other remaining teams don't decide to rest everyone at the end of the season like they did last year and we end up winning 5 or 6 games and miss out on a game changer.
There not going to draft Bosa they will win some meaningless games and mess up the draft order and miss out. Its the 49er way

Yeah I was taking Herbert out of the equation because of the trade compensation making it a no brainer. I just hope that if they do happen to trade down that it's still within the top 10.
