Now that Pettis has been released, we can look at MadDog's evaluation of Pettis. MadDog got it right - F. Maybe a D- if you count Pettis in his first year.

Great review. Nailed it. The only thing wrong was warner was an a+ in hindsight. Great job. More if the niners could for lunch and hire maddog...

The thing about the draft, is it's just simply very very hard. Not a knock on maddog who's opinion I value, but his shadow draft didn't fare any better. Fred Warner is much better than LVE and didn't take a top 10 pick. Connor Williams is trending further towards bust. Obo, a webzone favorite, gets no playing time on a team desperate for edge rushers.

Yup, everyone was scratching their heads after that Dante Pettis pick. Never liked him in college and was never a fan of his as a Niner, obviously.
I was actually hoping we traded up to that spot to take either Nwosu, Josh Jackson, or Anthony Miller.

All of those guys haven't done s**t.
Pettis was drafted waaaaay too early. If they would've taken him on day 3 where everyone projected him to go, it would've never been as big of a deal.
LVE is Sean Smith 2.0
Fred Warner is the best LB from the draft class.

He said if possible he would give it worse then an F.

So right.

" The Niners fell into the classic draft trap. Never take need over talent. "
And here y'all are trynna trade multiple picks/players for Lawrence. SMH.

I think we can now fairly evaluate this draft class. It looks like MadDog did a pretty good job evaluating the picks the 49ers made, I don't know if his picks were better.

Draft grade for Pettis- F- (If there was a lower grade, I would assign it)

The Dante Pettis pick was just so mind numbingly stupid both at the time and in hindsight. Especially when we never even used him as a returner which was the one thing he did well in college.

Fred Warner is about to be the highest-paid LB in the league while LVE didn't have his 5th-year option picked up and looks like he's about to have his career cut short by injuries.
People would be tilted around here.
