No doubt about it RDB4216, DK is on a different and much higher level to Deebo. It should make Kyle think twice. He made a good move on Jalen Hurd, he needs to find a couple more based on that type to balance out on all the small WRs we have. Is time to find some legit WRs who can handle deep contested routes. As Jimmy G expands his passing game, he will be going deep at some point and more often too to further enhance on our repertoire of explosive plays.
DK is limited as a WR. He's skill set is fine for what they do in Seattle. rub routes/crossing routes. backyard football. Kyles offense requires more well rounded skill set at the WR position.
Like the ability to drop footballs?
DK has the same amount of dropped balls as Deebo this yr and more than Pettis....
He has played great but that bucs CB (#35 I think?) was victimized time and time again. Reminded me of dontae Johnson 2017.
Hope we play better at CB than they did
Jamel Dean is a late 3rd rd pick and had to take over once they lost their starter at the beginning of the game. Kid has 2 total coverage snaps prior to this game...wilson isn't a dummy and attacked him all game.
Will be interesting to see how the Gordon acquisition effects him. Much like Sanders and Pettis they're very similar receivers and he can overtake some of his snaps.
I wouldn't be upset about not getting him. More bummed out we didn't grab AJ Brown . He'd be an absolute monster with Wilson or any decent QB throwing him the ball.
Our offense loves Route running, homerun ability and YAC. Three things Brown does very very well.

This! Brown has been lights out for the Titans minus a drop here and there.
Everyone saying that DK is limited in his route tree...yeah maybe...but so was another guy that comes to mind. His name is Calvin Johnson, and he turned out to be "alright".
I will say that talent evaluation is one area I will give credit to Bill Belichick over Kyle Shanahan. I think Kyle focuses too much on "his guys", players that just seem to fit his scheme, regardless of actual talent level. It's can this player do A, B, and C? If yes we draft, if no we pass. Period. Belchick looks at what a player can do, and do well, and sees how he can use that skill set. What CAN a player do, not what they can't do. That's how thay have kept that roster stocked so well for so long.
Kyle's strategy of only drafting people that fit the system, reminds me a bit of what Sean McVay does. And that thinking may have lead them to way overpay a "system quarterback".

And stop that patience talk. I guess you are indeed asleep.
This is another topic I was about to raise. Nobody expected we would be 8-0 at this juncture of this rebuild. Meaning, your mindset will have to change accordingly.
In case you haven't realized, the 49ers' Super Bowl window has already opened. We are the only undefeated team in the league and we are on schedule to be the No.1 NFC seed.
Like I said, I know noone expected it, but we will now have to handle things differently, let's just say in an expedited fashion. How many years do you think the Super Bowl window can stay open for? Take the Seahawks for example, as young as they were, they managed to go back to the Super Bowl in 2 consecutive years, won one and lost the second. That's it. In other words, when the window is open, there is no time to waste. You will have to front the very best teams that you can possibly put together within that period.
I am not even going to bother debating on size of players with you. We already have a ton of smaller WRs for all the shifts and motions. But, when the run game is shut down, you will have to throw, just like in the Cards game. In time, we will need to further open up the playbook as Jimmy G gets better and better. With better defenses, you will need more powerful weapons. Plenty of analysts have said the same too about the 9ers lacking bigger WRs.
I haven't heard ONE analyst say the 49ers have a deficiency at WR because they are all too small. Can you name an analyst who said this? If the WR is not strong enough to defeat man on man coverage or bump and run, timing on pass plays gets disrupted. A WR can also defeat bump and run with speed and quickness, where if the defender misses the bump and the WR runs past him, it opens up a long completion down the field. Sanders is not big and he seems to be doing just fine. Matthews is tall and got cut.

Nick Caserio on the Patriots draft board :
"There's good football players top to bottom [in this draft] I would say across positions," Caserio explained. "So our job is to find the ones that fit for us and the reality is, look, there are some players that fit; there's some players that don't. In the end, we end up with 50-75 players that we would draft from top to bottom. That's a small number but that's where we end up. So that's the decision that you have to make. I mean, it's a small pool but that's our process. We have to make the decisions that are best for our team, not necessarily what the player is going to do for somebody else. That's all we can really do and control."
We are doing the same thing, only our board is probably not as small as theirs.

Don't mind Rascal. He would rather have Shawn Poindexter out there than Emmanuel Sanders. Size is the only thing that matters in a WR.
