People acting like he's anything less than a great WR are just being stubborn. He's got 900 yards and 7 TDs in his rookie year!

This dude is going to put up a 1400 & 10 season and a few of these dudes will be like "yeah, okay but he's so stiff!"

Its simply a matter of scheme fit nothing more. He's not a awful WR or anything but he went to a offense with a QB that fit his skill set.

I'd take Deebo and Brown over him all day for THIS scheme.

Good on DK, he should be happy he went where he did regardless of him being a 2nd rd pick.

It's a matter of DK Metcalf being an elite athlete for the position and being a total beast at the point of catch. He would THRIVE in ANY scheme.
Yeah probably not.

Look at our scheme for example. Metcalf is a larger, slower Goodwin if he played here.

Disagree...there's plenty of elite athletes for their position that simply didn't thrive. WR position is one of the MOST dependent positions in football.
He fell to the best possible destination for him. I can't think of a better offense or QB in the league that is a better tailored fit for his style and strengths as a player than the Seahawks and Russell Wilson. I don't think you can plug him in just any offense and he'd perform at this level but as long as he's performing for the team that drafted him, who cares?

AJ Brown is the best rookie WR and will have the best career IMO but I'm super happy about Deebo and DK is a baller too (don't get 900 yards, 7 TD in rookie year and set a rookie receiving playoff record by being a fluke). All 3 franchises and fan bases are happy with these players.

He has already proven he will be a true No.1. Deebo you say? A No.2 may be, no way will Deebo be a true No.1 WR. To be a true No.1, you have to be able to execute big plays. Think Michael Thomas, now that's a true No.1. Likewise, Metcalf is well on his way. At this rate, he will probably become the No.1 come next season. Soon you won't hear much of Tyler Lockett's name anymore.

So he's proven in his rookie that he will be a true #1 because he's an MVP caliber quarterback who can extend plays.

8 drops, 3 fumbles, 1 of which sealed their loss against Baltimore, and the other on the 1 yard-line.

If that's what your #1 is doing....yikes.

Me too

in this case .... I think all three teams are ecstatic with these wide receivers. some on here just like the look of Metcalf , if you know what I mean lol. all these rookies have been very productive and we have the most explosive one of all

Agreed, niners got the best of the bunch.
Hope you watched Cowherd this morning. Metcalf is not a good route runner. He works with Russy just like any of his receivers. Russy plays playground football and during his scrambling, his receivers, who usually have speed, can get open. That's how the seachickens passing game works. If Russy is in the pocket, his a$$ is usually grass

All true except he has a great ability to escape the pocket and run for a first down. He killed Philly with that yesterday. If he stays in the pocket it's usually on a short quick pass. Wilson gets sacked a lot but it's often because he's scrambles around trying to give his receivers time to get open instead of throwing the ball away.

Metcalf is a monster. He could have been our monster. He is a bigger, faster, stronger TO. Just unbelievable Seattle and Russell Wilson got him.

But he can't run a cone drill fast.....

Lol man when you zero in on something you just continue to repeat it over and over and over
Btw it wasn't just his 3 come drill, they flagged him after his interview with the team.

everyone passed on Metcalf .......even the seahawks picked a DE before him. That neck injury looked scary.

Imagine this dude on the Ravens tho Chiefs?

Meh....Metcalf is a completely diff draft tho so I just don't get the relevance. And yes,...Lynch dropped the ball on Pettis.

Sure as heck wasn't me (go to the first page or two of this thread). I don't think there's anything wrong saying play A is better for team B and visa versa. His skill set is made for Wilson and his style of football (got guys on FOX radio talking about it today as well). I disagree he's an elite WR in any system BUT he's got a chance to be very good in Seattle... end of the day that's all that matters for the franchise and him.

lol u serious?? you was begging for him to be here in this system the 1st few pages before we whiffed on him. Please don't play the scheme card now when u were arguing we should trade up for him before.

Apologies aren't needed,...alot of teams dropped the ball skipping on this animal,...not just us.

Different draft?
Eh, I don't want to get caught up arguing systems vs. production. He's a rookie who almost had a 1,000 yard season, that's pretty impressive. I'm not a fan of his, and I think AJ is better, but it would be hard to justifiably rank Deebo ahead of him... on paper anyways.
I wouldn't have touched this guy with a ten foot pole. I was sure he was the next Stephen Hill.

Overstated. If you watched Seattle play most of Metcalf's catches are on the designed route. I already brought up this game earlier where only 1 out of 7 catches came on busted plays but watch his highlights. The vast majority of plays any offense can pull off with a good qb. Metcalf really isn't a playground receiver. He doesn't change directions well. He beats people on gos, slants, drags, posts. Stuff where he can utilize his straight line speed or just 1 cut. That and size. Having Russell obviously helps. He throws an amazing deep ball and they'll occasionally hook up when things break down but that's more for a Baldwin.
