I don't think anyone is suggesting that you put Buckner out there full time or even most of the time but as a situational package to give OLs something else to consider.

No we don't
I'd love to add Bosa as an ER, but drafting QWill will give us a stud NT to pair with Buck.

My feelings exactly. Bring an edge rusher in via FA, draft another early on in the draft, with two monsters like Buckner and Williams in the middle it reduces the need for a dominant edge rusher.

Nah he said the only reason Buck is rushing from the inside right now is because we don't have interior rushers. He wants buck as an outside pass rusher (that's what I got from his comment).
I got no problem if he's out there in certain packages like you said to give OLs something to think about. Moving him out there so we can draft a DT is ridiculous.

Yeah I don't agree with putting Buckner out there full time, especially not in this scheme. As an occasional package it could be effective because that is a lot of mass for an OL to deal with and then you can still put a more bendy edge guy on the other side, someone like Graham or Winovich, not sure how anyone OL holds up against that.

I mean, if we're talking conventional NT, then yeah, its a pretty s**tty pick. But if you're talking about an NT that can affect the game in so many ways, its a whole other story. Williams is a better prospect than Buckner was, if Williams develops into an even better NFL player, how do you stop those two? You're not running up the middle and your QB is going to have to deal with constant pressure up the gut. You'll have to allocate more blockers to try to hold up against the interior rush to the benefit of your guys on the outside, meaning you don't necessarily need a Von Miller out there, just someone with a high motor that is going to be able to take advantage of regular 1 on 1 matchups.
I get what you're saying, and initially the thought of another DT sounded ridiculous to me too but Williams is clearly the second best player in the class and the stuff that he can do could elevate this defense to another level, even without dominant pass rushers. Sign Graham or Fowler, draft Winovich, Ximenes or Ferguson and take another developmental edge prospect later on in the draft, I think you would have the structure of a defensive line that would give offenses nightmares.

I disagree it reduces the need...great we can get interior pressure, QBs can move out of the pocket if the edge rushers can't contain the QB then what?
ya'll acting like our interior DL sucks or something. They have 3 1st rd players and another 3 draft picks dedicated to the DL.

The offense only has so many guys it can block at once. If you need to double team Buckner and Williams, it stands to reason that one of your guys on the outside are going to get quite a few matchups going up against TE's or RBs. At that point what you need most is someone with a lot of speed, someone better than Marsh. You could sign a Graham or Fowler and draft another of many 2nd/3rd round edge rushers in this draft to cover that need.
Ultimately its about who creates the best mismatches. If you can get Bosa, then obviously you get Bosa because he instantly fills that need on the outside but if he's gone, I don't see a problem with taking Williams. The talent level and the potential matchup issues he creates are very tantalizing.

More from Jonah Williams on Quinnen Williams: "The toughest thing is when you've got an almost 300-pound bar of soap that's pushing past you and you just can't get ahold of him. So, I think that he's really perfected his hand technique."
— Charlie Potter (@Charlie_Potter) October 23, 2018
"300 pound bar of soap" is a great description.
This isn't news to anybody, but Quinnen Williams is FREAKING INCREDIBLE. Jonah Williams once said blocking him is like "trying to block a bar of soap," and he's spot on. Elite hand usage. Impossible to get a grip on. pic.twitter.com/u69VS54jvi

Here's Quinnen Williams, splitting the holds of two linemen, and still getting the sack on Burrow. #RollTide pic.twitter.com/hmVZOG0vHd

Here's a different play - @QuinnenD1 pushes LSU's left guard into the backfield, where Nick Brossette joins in for a double team.

Quinnen Williams sheds them both, and collapses on Burrow. Dude has NFL-quality hands. #RollTide @TheUACoaches pic.twitter.com/8zHXrOmGOs
