Where we disagree I guess is the difference in prospect ranking from Williams to Bosa.

Some people are trying to imply that Williams is the Myles Garrett of this draft where Bosa is like Solomon Thomas and I disagree big time. The gap between Q and Bosa is small and I think quite possibly the reason why some think Williams is better is because Bosa got hurt and couldn't show us his full season as a 3rd year college player, something Williams was able to do.

So taking Bosa to me not only gives us a player well worth #2 overall pick but also someone who hits a top need for us and allows the rest of the line to play at their best.

I also agree that you can only address so many positions but considering the strength of this draft class is pass rushers, we have a pretty serious need at the position still and the strength of our DL are guys made for interior play...it just makes too much sense to go with Bosa.

After getting Ford, it's still a need but not a top need. I personally think db, is a big need, and Sam. The bosa thing for me, is I don't think he'll get much better. And also I truly believe hill be good, but not play when he's hurt a little. Like his brother. I also really believe he is injury prone. But yes that's debatable.

We picked up Ford, got rid of Cassius Marsh. That's an improvement but you're still looking for edge on pass downs to play on the other side with Ford.

Sam in this defense plays very limited snaps. Check the snap count by our SAM last year...if you draft SAM at #2 overall that's a big waste of draft capital.

And you opinion on Bosa being injury prone or not being able to get better is based on what? His injuries were nothing that's long term or recurring.

There is no ACL injury genetic disposition going on.

There is no DB worth taking that high in this draft...trading down just to trade down is stupid when there is still a pretty substantial need at edge. Especially since you don't draft for just 4-5 years. You're drafting that high and you're hoping to get a guy who will be on your team 10+ seasons.

SAM is the least important position on the defense. Its never a big need.

Phoenix, who's your pick at #2, with 3 weeks to go?

Is a SAM still a SAM if he blitzes 50% of the time in nickel? Blitzes from 9,7,6,5,4? Is that still a SAM?
QW, Allen or bosa in that order for me, if we don't get one of the big 3 then I'd be disappointed

There's no SAM in nickel.
Let's just play 5 defensive lineman. Problem solved.

SAM isn't on the field on passing downs.

I'm sure he's talking about Allen moving to Leo in passing downs.

Where are you playing Ford on passing downs then? I like Allen as a prospect, not a fan of him on this roster with this particular defensive coordinator. I think Bosa is a much better fit for this team.

In nickel, the Sam leaves the field and the nickel back comes on to defend the slot. If you have a SAM who is a better edge rusher than your Big End, he moves to DE and the Big End either leaves the field or slides inside to rush vs the OG, sending the NT to the sideline.

I don't disagree just saying I imagine that's his thought process with Allen.

I think he'd expect Ford, Buckner, Thomas/Armstead, Allen on pass downs.
