An anonymous scout told Bob McGinn of Bob McGinn Football that Alabama T Jonah Williams is "soft."

The full quote: "He's soft," he said. "He has good feet but he gets pushed. He has no strength or power." Williams is considered by many to be the best offensive lineman in this class, but it's not unanimous. This scout doesn't consider him a first-round pick (obviously), and others like Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline have raise their reservations as well. Another scout tells McGinn that Williams is "Technically sound. Good hand placement. Very consistent."

Power is overrated. Hands and technique matter much more. I still think he's a guard and won't be near the best "tackle" of this class.

Agree. I don't agree with the soft assessment though from the scout. I've watched him since HS at Folsom....he's not soft imo.

You can't start for Saban if you're soft, and this kid started as a Freshman

lol thank you

I think he is comparable to Wynn last year. He went to the Pats in the late first round so I think he should be dropping.
Funny how these guys are moving up or down on draft boards when nothing has changed. No more real games have been played and most of the top guys skipped the post season all star games. We haven't had the combine yet and guys still are jumping around based on what? Fans wishes or rumors?

If he drops that far I would hope the Niners would trade back into the 1st for him

That's also my comp, Jonah is taller, but both have had their length questioned. Both have exceptional feet.

I still think Jonah is a great prospect, I think if he somehow measures over 35" arms he goes top 10, going down about 10 picks per inch.

He'd be an outstanding pick for us in a trade, just not a top 5 tackle prospect who tend to be huge, mauling quick feet Orlando Pace type monsters.

Scouting off of live games doesnt give the whole picture. With the time to now dig deeper into the evaluation process, rankings will change. Its not like top prospects are dropping entire rounds this late in the game, just being graded more harshly and studied more closely. You also have players that you may not have had time to watch during the season, who you are now realizing you like equal to or more than the players you've seen all year.

Who is your top tackle then? This is not a good group.

It's indicative of the way colleges are playing these days, the spread tackles don't even know how to pass set.

No tackle prospect has completely clean tape, the above has just come up because they have seen he has short arms, and are looking for confirmation bias.

A couple of bad reps do not ruin a body of work that spans 4 years at the very top of college football, playing for a pro football factory, just think of the practices against the guys through Bama in his time?
