Yep, I really want an ER, but would be fine with Williams (OT) or Greedy (CB), especially if the next best ER is not deemed as high a talent as both of them.

Then they need to trade down and take pass rushers at the appropriate value.

Coming away from this draft with no immediate impact pass rushers is not a legitimate option.

And this is the best OL we've had in ages esp. for run blocking. Never stop adding talent to this OL. And our FQB is coming back from an ACL. Protect him!

I'm not saying our OL is perfect. But I think stats like this discount the CJ Beathard effect. OL stats would look much better if Garoppolo was starting all season.

In my opinion in that scenario you take the stud and then trade up from the 2nd round pick.

There are several high end edge rushers in this draft. But they will all be gone by #15 with how much value is placed on the position.

Trading up from the 2nd would require a 2020 1st.

I cant see 6 of the top 15 being ER

The ER available in the top 10 are all high end prospects. The guys that drop into the 20s and 30s will have a comparatively much higher bust rate -- at a position we absolutely need to crush in the draft.
Bosa top 3, Ferrel top 10. Allen top 18. Burns, sweat, polite all top 40 imo
Don't look now, but 49ers are tied for 7th in the league in sacks with 24! I can see a real possibility that Lynch and the Niners brass may feel we are fine at the edge, or not desperate anymore for an ER, though still a need. It could make it more of a possibility they take BPA, with their first pick. Remember, no one can just come in and take Marsh's job!
^ how the f**k is this team tied for 7th in sacks ??

Funny how playing the Raiders can paper over a lot of cracks!

I would still give a slight "edge" to a pass rusher, but they still have to grade out at nearly as well.
Excited for the matchup with Montez Sweat this weekend.

With an uninspiring group of quarterbacks, for example, I am not sure who is going to push them down that far. If we want a top edge rusher, I think we need to spend the 1st round pick. To gamble that a good edge will still be available for our 2nd would be foolhardy.

This might be the case, but even so you will get people shouting we must draft an edge rusher.

I'm all for using positional value and need, but at the end of the day apart from QB & TE we aren't set at any position so the main decider will be ability, we can practically choose BPA and it may well be Williams.

Everyone hated the McGlinchey pick at first, how's it looking now?

Most loved the Solomon pick, how's that looking now, just get great football players.

I'm fine getting good football players at important needs. Joe is under contract for other yr, you gonna just throw Williams at guard for a yr? We are fine there. At some pt they gotta be able to develop a OT as well.

You can poo poo on Thomas but the kid was a good football player coming out of college. He had all the traits you want in a high pick. Just not the right position currently (that's a debate for another thread).

Like I said Williams is the only high end talent at OT and I don't see teams that most likely draft ahead of us passing on him. Wouldn't hate or love the pick.

Let's also not pretend like edge isn't a massive issue or not a very important position to take care of either
I wouldnt mind this pick. Trade up for Winovich near the end of the first round, or possibly sign jadaveon clown? I hated the thomas pick btw, I wanted jamal adams or fournette early or a trade down to the teens for mahomes(not thinking he was getting picked 10th by kc) Ok with mcglinch pick but preferred keeping brown on a franchise tag and taking derwin james. Im starting to believe in the scott mcloughan philosophy where the bigger players are more durable, but maybe we just having an unlucky year. Or its a blessing in disguise and something special is going to be built.
