Impressive.
Love this kid. Wanna see the field drills
I believe the Niners are going to target Butler in the 2nd if he's there at our selection at #36. He looks like he's got some Josh Gordon in him. Hes got very good length and his skills are evident enough to intimidate the cb opposite him even before the ball is snapped. Dude is a force with the ball in his hands. I admit I missed his portion of the combine with traveling but if he did well in the ball skills portion (gauntlet), then I see more than a few teams that could target him even in mid, late first. I'd love to have Butler. Think hes got the talent to be a stud for years.
Might be a nice Gronk replacement
Biggest question mark is his hands. May force his value down further than the 2nd round. Good athlete, but has to be able to catch the ball first.

The last two WRs with his size and length were Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin and he put up a faster 40 than either of them. He's not dropping past the 2nd round.

Auden Tate and Marcel Ateman went in the 7th round last year. EQ St. Brown went in the 6th. Lazzard wasn't even drafted.

Granted, most of those guys were slower. But still... you just never know.

And just to be clear, I'm not trying to poo poo Butler. I really like what I see and I'd be cool with us taking him in the 2nd. I'd be even cooler with us taking him in the 3rd tho...

Not one of those guys had 34" arms let alone the 35+" arms that Butler has. Ateman and Lazzard didn't even have 33" arms despite being 6'5. And all were slower than Butler (Tate is a snail). St. Brown had 33" arms exactly. If nothing else, that highlights the importance of arm length. Most of those guys had short arms for their height. Taller guys don't tend to create as much separation so having average speed, below average quickness, and short arms is the kiss of death.
Butler is an absolutely elite athlete, with elite size and length, and highlight reel catches littered throughout his tape. Teams will see his 11" hands and not worry about his concentration drops over everything he brings to the table
