A bigger question is what were we thinking? I read the Eagles are playing him at safety. Something we can use with Jimmie out for a min 4 weeks. And all they had to give up was a 2023 5th and 2024 6th. Maybe not a good scheme fit? Character issues? Saints don't want to trade him to a contender they happen to have on their schedule? A bigger trade coming involving a safety?

One of the few that the 9ers should consider giving one to. Cant keep duct taping safety year after year after year after year.

If Bosa, Aiyuk, Al Shaair and Greenlaw weren't due for extensions, then I would agree with you.

I would just trade for him as a rental as figure it out next year. No biggie if he walks and you get a comp pick too

They arent extending both Al Shaair and Greenlaw. As far as Bosa and Aiyuk goes they will have the money with the cap going up to afford them. Why the rollover was so important. You can add 1-2 FA's next year with the projected jump coming in 24.
