looks like the Pats are signing Hoyer as their starter. Bill definitely tanking for Lawrence.

I think he is being brought in as the veteran backup. IMO Stidham likely to start and maybe they add someone in the draft.

Not really news at this point, but Peter King is reporting that WAS is listening to offers for the 2nd pick.

Would trade the farm and the one adjacent to it for Young. Bosa and Young coming off the edges?

That said, not a chance Washington trades that pick.

this.....

agreed its a pipe dream

but i would trade the 13-31 and next years first.

The dime look could be sick with Ford-AA-Bosa and Young. You could even see Young-Thomas-AA-Bosa with Ford standing up.

The Line could be as close to unblockable I as i have everseen.

But again..... I double Washington trades out.

I agree of course Washington is listening they would be stupid not to, but short a a Hershel Walker offer they will keep that pick.

The team to trade with would be Cinci. They are the dark horse in that race. They may have plans of being a s**t team next year also for Lawrence.

Do you believe teams actually do this?

I think teams project some yes. I don't think that teams actively try to lose on gameday, but I think some teams can build a roster in a way that they for see bumps in the road before they start winning and those bumps may result in them having a record that puts them in a favorable position in the draft.

For example: What if Cinci drafted Young, and played out the season with Finley at QB? Or what if they took a deal for 3 1st's to move back to 13 hoping for a premier OT, DT or WR and then played out the season with Finley at QB? Think the Bengals would expect to win many more games than they did last year?

Here's the problem- coaches don't get a long enough leash to pull something like that off. If you are going to do that, it has to be year 1. But even then, there are limits as to how bad the season can be.
Thoughts on this?? If it were possible to do it without mortgaging the future in draft capital, Im all for it...

Trade up for Chase Young???

Trade up for Chase Young???

Last year, what kind of offer would a team have needed to where you would have been okay with trading out of the Top 10?

I'd want a bust of a #3 overall pick. A struggling tall corner. A RB with a nickname that screams speed. And a agile receiver with 9 lives.

Not too sure about last year to be honest. So much was different then... from expectation of the team, uncertainty of pieces needed to end up with a well rounded and deep team, to how long would it take for the team to develop into a contender. Then bam, everything clicked and the team surpassed all expectation, the team did actually have enough depth which eventually developed, and in turn gave us an awesome year. So last year I would of been good with just taking Bosa at #2, but I was not opposed to trading down to gain more depth via additional picks. As for compensation I am not too sure what I would give up to move to #2 to draft a Bosa...

As for this scenario, I would probably start off in the realm:
- Hope that Miami or the Chargers trades up to draft Tua at #2.
- Then try and trade #13, #31, 2021 1st, and Dee Ford FOR Lions #3 and their #35 (2nd rounder)
- Use the 2nd Rounder to trade down and accumulate more picks for this year since draft is so deep

So Solomon, Witherspoon, brieda, Pettis and our 13th?

at the idea that this is a realistic trade. This is the same thing as 13 and a future late round first for #3. We're also swapping #31 for #35 in exchange for the Lions taking on Dee Ford's contract.

Ford is gone (cut) after this season. No one is going to want to pay $50 million over 3 years to an injury prone edge who will be 30 a year from now. Fortunately, we signed him to a long-term deal with little guaranteed money so we can get out of that contract.

We don't have the draft capital to get Young unless we offer every draft pick over the next 2 years. He's worth the #1 draft slot whether he's sitting there at 3 or not because he would be selected #1 in most drafts (including last year's draft ahead of Murray and Bosa).

The 49ers have ~1820 of draft capital this year. We're likely to have ~1200 next year and that's without discounting it because future draft picks are worth less. Even if we offer every draft pick we have in 2020 and 2021, they may turn us down. Chase Young is a pipe dream.

3 first round picks?

Ehhhh

I would, but i think Chase Young is a sure thing.

If they some how kept Ford in that deal, they could even throw wrinkles in that resemble some of the old 46 defense. That could ensure Ford gets as clean a look as possible. Not bread and butter, but on situational 3rd downs.

The defense would have the tools it needs to dictate to the offense, thats not something many teams in the history of the NFL have been able to do.

Trading up for Simmons could have a similar effect considering his coverage prowess and ability to rush the passer (high underrated pass rusher). I might even like him more then Chase Young.

All those "all-in", "we're 1 player away" fans are gonna wish the 49ers had draft picks when the 49ers start losing guys because of the salary cap; ie Rams.

Jimmy G playing like a top 10 QB is the difference between winning and losing a Super Bowl for the 49ers, not Super Saiyan at DE.

Agreed, I don't wanna trade away picks when those players if the right pick can be great depth or best case beat someone out. With injuries due to happen great depth is a must and a reason why we got the #1 seed. We're not a Chase Young away from winning a SB, we could've won it with Ford
