Guy is like Dan Marino
Guy is like Dion Sanders
Guy is like Jerry Rice
But damn.....
JJ really does look a little like Rice. No he is not Jerry Rice....but yeah...there is real similarities. If some one photo shopped him in to red and gold and put the number 80 on him...it would probably take us a few mins to catch on that it was not actually Jerry Rice. Very similar style.
The hot talking point on JJ has been elite "rout runner". That really seems to be code for "guy runs and changes direction with balance". I think the thing 49er fans should really lock onto is not that he is physically capable of running any rout in the tree....its that his "high light reel" shows him scoring on 3 or 4 slants...and on those slants he generated REMARKABLE separation.
I am kinda of tired of watching 49er WRs constantly have to make herculean catches in tight coverage, JJ really is a guy that seems to be able to make SHORT yardage separation....even in the red zone.
This guy does not look like a product of the system, or to have really benefited from the stacked team he was on. He seems to be a guy that thrives in just about every situation. It really makes me want to turn on my old Rivals account to see if they have all the throws to him on a supercut.
One last thing to add, for anyone that does watch his highlight reels....watch how fast he holsters the ball. VERY little ball movement after the catch. Some times you even miss the catch on the tape, he is so fast and fluid with his...for lack of a better term, catch mechanics. This absolutely does not look like a guy who is going to bobble balls, or lead to unforced turnovers due to carelessness. Very little body catching, it appears he has top notch hand-eye coordination.
