Then there are guys like Aiyuk, Higgins, Mims, Reagor, Hamler, and Pittman who can all contribute (plus Shenault if he's healthy). There are plenty of options at WR who can help out right away and there's a very good chance that one of the guys picked in the second round in this draft outperforms the top WR selected. In a draft this deep at WR, you can get a better value in the 2nd or 3rd round than at 13.
Depending on who is available at 13, we may be forced to go WR but telling people to stop liking other prospects because there is a severe drop-off is ridiculous.

This quote is from my mock in the subsection. I think Pittman is the 49ers' top guy at WR. He literally checks every one of their boxes, which is incredibly rare. I'll admit I let my dislike for his YouTuber stuff cloud my appreciation for his game, but he is a hell of a prospect and incredible value.
I'm not sure there's a more Shanahan guy in the entire draft than Michael Pittman. He quite literally checks every one of this regime's boxes. Pittman meets all of Shanahan's athletic thresholds for vertical, 3-cone and short shuttle. He has the highest Wonderlic score of all WRs in the 2020 draft, was voted captain by his peers, and by all accounts is an incredibly hard worker and high character individual. Pittman gives the 49ers an element of a big body who runs great routes, catches everything, and blocks his ass off.

Is he too similar to JHurd minus the brokeback?

I think Pittman is more of a pure split end while Hurd is more of a moving piece and OW(played F receiver, which in Mike Shanahan's playbook is a subpackage WR that replaces the fullback). But I think Pittman has a lot of the same qualities that made Hurd so appealing to this regime.
Also, there's the whole broken back thing.

I dont think we are in a position to draft a WR based on how he fits with Hurd. Not sure if Hurd is even in the rotation. Pittman fits nicely with Deebo and Kittle and is an excellent run blocker. Sign me up.

Man I hope so. Doubt it though. I still see Lynch trading down from 31...
