I'm torn on Pittman. I see the measurables, and I hear the comparisons to Allen Robinson, but I'm not sure I see that when I watch him. Perhaps I need to watch more.

I do agree with the assessment that he's not going to be a crossing route burner, and his lack of quick-twitch explosiveness will mean he'll have to more often than not win with physicality. Of course, it's good he's so good in that regard. Alright... time to dig into more footage...

yea, i don't see it with him either. I also can see why the measurables has some wanting him. I just don't see it when watching him. He seems to be in the group C of Wrs if you want a specific skillset. Day 3 WR's IMO

DPJ
Claypool
Gandy Golden
Isiah Hodgins

SPEED/Versatility
Duvernay
Lynn Bowden

What don't you see? Just curious.

He's not super twitchy, but he's 6-4 223lbs he's not gonna be stupid quick.

I wouldn't say he's a specific skillset WR either....he can play in the slot or outside. He's got amazing hands. He's got a massive catch radius and is very good at deep balls. Toss in he's good blocker/doesn't shy away from contact.

When I see him play I think of Arob or Alshon Jeffery. Not sure why anyone wouldn't be down for that

I think it's the fact he doesn't "stand out" (for lack of a better description). Yes he's not just a tall dude. But i wouldn't look at him unless I wanted a tall dude.

He's talented, but he's nothing special. To me he's the kind of guy you can get on 3rd day every year.

So with that, i can understand wanting him in the 4th allowing us to get top notch potential elsewhere. But in the 2nd as ive seen in some mocks... not feeling it
I know some people were pointing to his combine #'s to classify him as a target for the 49ers, but based on his tape, he doesn't strike me whatsoever as a Shanny WR.

How similar was Pettis and Deebo?

They're actually very similar in regards to separation traits. They're both good athletes, quick, shifty, fluid, accelerate off the line, sink hips, explosive short areas, etc.

Separation, separation, separation.

What ultimately separates Deebo from Pettis is 1) contrasting physical builds - Deebo is short, stocky; Pettis is long, wirey 2) disposition - Deebo is a pitbull.

But they're absolutely similar in regards to their separation traits, which is ultimately what Shanahan put a premium on.

Ugh, seeing these clips of Pettis makes me so disappointed in him. Dude has so much potential.

Think about all the Frankenstein WRs the 49ers passed on in the last few seasons(Courtland Sutton, Hakeem Butler, Allen Lazard, the dude from Notre Dame with the funky name, etc).

The ability to run a "blaze out," a staple of Kyle's offense, is a good baseline for WR prospects. Kyle has both his split end and flanker run this route. If a WR prospect can't run this route at a high level(ie ability to throttle down from full speed, flip hips, explode out), Kyle won't want them. Frankenstein WRs need not apply.

Kid had 101 rec almost 1,300 yards and 11 TDs with trash at QB
