I like this kid. Been watching some film on him today. He's a very natural fit for this offense. If we could get him in a trade back then I'm happy.

This is my issue with him (and I still like him)

His game was based around screens and go-routes.

wow this is a really cool graphic. Thanks for posting NYniner85. Very impressed with Ruggs diversity in his routes.

But if you actually watch his games you'll he see he was more than that. He was open a ton on NFL routes but his QB was running for his life the opposite direction.

Them running screens for him was at least in some way a byproduct of not being able to get him tbe ball in normal situations

These numbers are just his targets. Not that its the only route he ran

And if im not mistaken he also had one of tbe worst catchable passes thrown his way. Which also could be why they chose screens to get him the ball

Here's the routes he gained most of his yards off of...pretty much the same

There were worse, but it wasn't amazing..also someone who's main targets are deep balls I would expect him to have worse passes throw his way.

A majority of his routes run were screens and post/go-routes. Not saying he doesn't have a diverse route-tree just didn't see a ton of it.

I like him as a trade down guy (Mid to late 2nd) . He's in my top 10 WR list.

If you're just watching highlights then sure that's all you'll see. The numbers you posted clearly verifies that the majority of his targets were the routes you mentioned. As for didn't see a ton of other routes, you must not have been looking for it.

The one thing i will say, his contest catches, not his strong suit.

I watched the Oregon and Utah game.

Like I said...like him in a trade down. From what I've watched your chart backs a lot of that up but I've only watched a small handful of games. Kid is a monster after the catch. I believe in Kyle and his staff to polish him up more.

With Kyle's ability to get scheme his players open, I trust this kid would look great in this offense with the football in his hands.

Aiyuk's best route is the post route

Not really sure if that information means anything, would be helpful if there was a comparison to years prior. Just from cursory look IMO all it tells you is the type of offense they ran in college, like a QB who only plays out of shotgun and doesn't play under Center.

Compared to others Aiyuk didn't get targets/yards on In routes, Slant, and Crossing routes. You have to account for ASU had a true freshman QB with an elite RB, every team we faced stacked the box with 8. So of course Aiyuk was used either on screens or deep routes.

Yeah I feel like if SF doesn't take a WR at 13 and they trade down to middle of the 2nd from 31 he's good value there.

Yep that's what I was garnering at.

Those stats are over the course of the past two seasons.

Whether it's this kid, Mims, or Higgins, once again I think those who're mocking Ruggs, Jeudy, & Lamb as 1st rd picks at #13 will be disappointed. The earliest Lynch will draft a WR is either at #31 or in the 2nd after he trades down, IMHO.
