I watched some tape on Aiyuk a few weeks ago, and sent a friend of mine a text that said this dude can move. I can see what Kyle likes and this pick works for me.

Plays much faster than 4.5.

Based on?
Him running 4.5 with no pads and running the same speed with pads on.
You conveniently ignored the bold. Glad to know you timed Aiyuk in the 40 with pads on tho.

Yea on the field it doesn't look like he is a 4.5 guy. Even when you see Deebo running he looks faster than a 4.5.

40 inch vertical, ran a 4.5 with a injured groin.
BTW, 4.5 is fast. 4.6 is average for a skill position.

With all due respect, you are incorrect, sir... He was rising up the draft boards and would have been long gone at 31.

The player that Brandon Aiyuk reminds me of is John Taylor, same build, long arms with big hands, Same athletic ability, speed and return ability, and same John Taylor toughness. Every time I watched Aiyuks highlights I thought of John Taylor

The GOAT ran 4.6. But once you watch the film its a different story. 4.5 is good but he was also hurt during the senior bowl and combine. Young man is fast, explosive and can play all over the field. Watch the film and he's plenty fast than that 4.5 indicated at the combine.

Not finding a way to get any day 2 picks is a real bummer though.
I'm not that bummed about it. This is a Super Bowl team that doesn't need a ton of picks to retool. I'm hoping that we can fill the few needs we have with impact players, and have faith that Kyle and John have a better understanding of where they are taking this team. Kyle is obviously in love with Aiyuk, otherwise they'd have never traded up. Been wanting a game changer at WR since TO bailed, and if that is Aiyuk, it was worth it. Go Niners!
Good call, agreed, especially that our FO has a better read on these players, ( college and pros ), than most fans have....

Now, let's see if our FO has any tricks up it's sleeve in order to secure some more picks in day two now.....

And CeeDee Lamb looked like a 4.3 guy...in the Big 12, where Defenses are playing at .75 speed on YouTube :D
For real though Aiyuk is explosive. Deebo has a way of playing faster than his 40 with his burst and acceleration despite body-mass. Aiyuk to me is very similar to Deebo. For that reason I both dislike the pick (because he duplicates rather than compliments Deebo) and like the pick (because 2 Deebos is better than 1!).

I agree that they have similar builds physically. From what I am hearing though , Aiyuk has more explosiveness than Deebo...and he can return kicks. Also, by all accounts, he is very fast. If you look at his tape, he is running away from DBs....you can't do that unless you are fast. One last thing....the Niners WRs have to be able to block....and Aiyuk is physical enough to do that. This guy is a complete player, perhaps the most complete WR in the draft....that is why Kyle liked him so much.
Cheers!

I heard you're actually supposed to spell his last name as Aiyac

I was initially bummed we didn't get Jerry Jeudy. But after more consideration, I like the Aiyuk pick. I think Kyle values a WR who can make the quick catch and then can immediately rip the ball up the field specializing in RAC. Jimmy G is probably not the QB that will take advantage of Jeudy's pinpoint route running whereas he's must more likely to throw a quick hitter to Aiyuk which allows him to use his athleticism to get down the field. Very different types of receivers.
So all in all, I'm happy with us picking Aiyuk!

If he's there on a trade down from 13 or at own 31. Love how this draft is playing out for us.
Not a significant drop between tier 1 and Aiyuk either.
i think i like him as much as if not more than Jeudy and Lamb. I would not be mad at all if we trade down at 13 and pass on the big 3 and select this guy. Been seeing new mocks with him going mid to late 20's lately. compared to mid 2nds earlier in the process.
Ayiuk plus extra day two pick(s) would be better than any one WR we'd get at 13 in my opinion
Props to this post from March 21st.
