What if he is wide bodied. That body could be 40" and his arms could be 20.5" each.
They should go based off vertical reach from the top of their head. Dude could have a short body and a long head and be 6' but his shoulders are only 5'4" high and his head is 8" long.
Just saying: need more info.
If you've watched a couple hours of film on him you wouldn't ask that. The kid has a 40 time of 4.5 or so, but you watch him get the ball and you see Jerry Rice's 40 time not reflecting even a little bit what he did once he got the ball. I bet he was one of the fastest guys ever once ball was in hand . Welp, here's another one just like that. Slow 40 time, but hell on wheels and pulls away from anybody nearby. Go look at film, and you'll feel better.

You try to bench 20x with a 81" wingspan.

What people fail to understand is 40 times mean nothing if you can't get off the LOS. DB's in the nfl will put their hands on ya, and punch you in the chest. Aiyuk uses those long arms to keep those guys form getting that type of leverage. How many receivers come out of college with excellent speed, only to never be able to really employ it because a DB (Sherman, cough) knocks them silly at the snap. The guy has that "Aldon Smith" arm thing going that swipes those hands from his chest.

cmc only did like 8 or 9. Strength is something you can work on.
Considering no QB was taken and no trade ups were made in the first handful of round 2 picks, I think it's safer to assume a trade down wasn't available from 31.
I was absolutely floored with the Pettis pick but Aiyuk, unlike Pettis, was actually widely projected to go where he did and it's not like the picks we gave up were out of line with the trade value chart (we actually gave up less).
As far as fit, I actually had Aiyuk as a top 3 WR for our team pre-draft so IMO we not only got good value / need but an exceptional fit. Yes there were other talented wr's left but the only remote 1st rd talents left at WR were in that jump ball / can't separate to save their lives mold that is a terrible fit for our system.
This is surprising to me. I honestly thought Ruggs would be his top WR.
I like Aiyuk though. I think they could still get Quez Watkins later to add a deep threat, but I'm liking the WR room a lot more.
I hate not having a day two pick. I'll still watch the draft, but it takes a lot out of it. I'm hoping to see some player trades today.
I think Kyle is evolving before our eyes as far as WR mold. If you think about it, his bread and butter play calling script is totally different with the 49ers today than at any other stint. Seems like he's soured on players with any toughness flags (maybe a recent sour taste from guys like Goodwin / Pettis). Ruggs actually played pretty tough but was not routinely asked to make tough catches over the middle and his frame makes you question how he'd hold up doing that in the NFL week in and out.

I like Aiyuk, and I'm excited to see him play. One of the biggest questions about him is his ability to beat the press. I think hes going to need to add strength.

You got that backwards....
The Majority of Ruggs catches were in the middle of the field, the Majority of Aiyuk's catches were not.
Very,...VERY little wasted motion, even as he's juking guys setting up to break the other way. Accelerates out of them instead of slowing down,...which is a huge separator between him and other guys.
Arizona St. WR Brandon Aiyuk is deadly on in-breaking routes. Once he catches the ball with momentum, he can easily take it the distance. pic.twitter.com/m6cwpPlrFC
Look at that acceleration through the ball right after it is caught. Due speeds up through the catch...that is some elite burst there. I love this guy. Has to be a 4.40 guy not 4.50.

4.50 with a groin and/or core injury...has to be a lot faster than that.
If he had that sort of injury or was recovering from it at the combine the guy will be a jet and a beast. The adversity he had in his background growing up will keep him hungry and level headed. I like the pick. I am predicting BEAST.
