Definitely looking at 1st round tackles. Wonder if that means anything.

Jones Jones has a scheduled meeting. He and Ezra Cleveland can be had around pick 31 or in a trade down. I'm a big fan of this

Non-FBS prospects worth investing in: Kyle Dugger, Adam Trautman and more@PFF_Anthony:https://t.co/bEZj5vfJF9

OL KYLE MURPHY, RHODE ISLAND
Murphy played all over the line throughout his career and started at left tackle for the Rams in 2019, but he's more of a guard at the next level — and that move could turn him into a viable starter in the NFL. At left tackle this past year, Murphy owned just a 68.2 overall grade, which is by no means great against the level of competition he was facing. Again, he has the tools we like for him to flip to the inside. We would place him among the top guards in the class, so snagging him late on Day 3 could be a steal for a team willing to work with him.

He has the mean streak you want out of your OL.
University of Rhode Island guard Kyle Murphy...talk about a non-stop motor. Lined up at LT here (projects to G), pushes defender almost 10 yards off the LOS before he pancakes him, then pancakes him again when he tries to recover. pic.twitter.com/wQfsmlg9WX

So, uh, according to Matt Maiocco, he thinks there's a 50% chance Staley doesn't return. I wonder if Staley has already told the team he's retiring if they can find his replacement in the draft.

Yeah saw that yesterday. Barrow's reported that Joe said he was gonna play, but who knows. I find it highly unlikely he retires.
I'd be trying to trade for T Williams if Joe retires...would make so much sense.

Trent Williams? Dude is going to be 32 years old, riddled with injuries and Snyder hates Kyle. There's no way that happens.
I don't foresee this team having the opportunity to grab a tackle early in the draft in the coming years. Grab that your tackle if you can now and stabilize the most important position on the OL for years to come.

We won't have the cap space to sign Williams to a long-term deal (we will this year if we wipe out Staley's deal, but we won't going forward). That's why we had to let Buckner go in exchange for the 13th pick in the first place. Williams wants to sign a new deal worth $20+ million/year. He's injury prone so he won't be paid as much as guys like Tyron Smith and Ronnie Stanley when they sign new deals, but he's likely to get at least $18 million/year from someone.
It's hard to maintain a Super Bowl roster. Guys will want to get paid and we're already committing $27 million/year to Garoppolo. Drafting a replacement and having a cost-controlled LT makes a lot more sense.

If Joe retires yes we do.
SF is looking at around $60M in cap space in 2021. They have cash. They didn't pay Buck because they didn't think he was worth $21M a yr.

They also might think Brunskill is the guy to replace Staley and opt to go OG/C with a trade back at 31.

I'm a Ruggs guy but this makes sense to me. Especially, obviously, if Joe really does hang em up
