Seems like this would be the year to do it. Any thoughts on who we might be able to trade down with that needs to move up from the 2nd? Adding a couple mid round picks could be huge for us because we need to build the depth of the current roster. If we are able to land 3-4 solid picks from this draft, we will be in great shape next year.
Hopefully we don't take any fliers on injured players.

The top picks in the 2nd rd belong to some teams who could use a QB, Colts, Chargers, Panthers, so assuming they don't pick a QB with their 1st pick, they could trade back into the 1st for a Jake Fromm or Jordan Love to get the 5th year option on them, a 2nd and a 3rd is what I'd expect in return. Colts have two 2nd round picks, would be nice if we could some how get both in a trade.

Man, getting 2 seconds would be huge if we can manage that.

Yeah we would prob have to give some late picks but if a team wants their guy, especially a QB, they have to pay.

Unless a prospect that they absolutely love drops for some reason, they should trade down a couple of times and add another three or four picks in the process.

Agree, I can see them trade down and get a 2nd and 3rd, then trade down from the early 3rd to late 3rd and get a late 4th, giving them a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, two 5th, a 6th and two 7ths.

Who are some guys who could slip and cause us to just use our first round pick?

Assuming Our 1st round pick is # 32, I tend to look at what our potential player selections might be about 10 to 15 spots later, that we might want, as that could go a long ways towards determining our willingness to trade back. Say around the 47th to 52nd in the second round overall, to give me an idea of who we might want to select if we trade down, of course it depends on another team. But I think we would have to move back aways, to get a third round pick in a trade back.....( of course this would include a second rounder also )...as many here know the one of the big values of a first round pick is that 5th year option on their contract. Then again, Overall, the FO might value quality over quantity this draft year.

There's a lot for me right now, after the workouts it'll be clearer but my main player is Xavier McKinney from Bama, but I keep seeing him mocked in the top 20 now.

That would be awesome if they can manage to gain that many picks, I'm not even oppposed to trading down for picks next year.

Thats a great point. Our roster is deep enough now (assuming guys stay healthy) that quality over quantity might be better now because at the end when the final cuts are made, those players that are at the end of the cuts are going to be good players.
We just need to stay away from guys that have injuries or have injury riddles pasts.

I fully expect us to trade down. Honestly, I was thinking this ever since we traded for E. Sanders

I like the trade down a lot, but it's tricky to pass up an instant starter...like McKinney or Etienne, or maybe the center from Wisconsin, to get depth. We also need to get Staley's replacement pretty soon...Got to trust Kyle and Lynch.

Cincinnati 1, 33, 65, 97, 129, 161, 193
Jacksonville 9, 20, 42, 73, 106, 170, 186, 201
Indianapolis 13, 34, 44, 75, 112, 143, 174, 189, 205
Carolina 7, 38, 69, 103, 134, 165, 199
Maybe a team like one of these will want a QB at the end of the 1st especially if they don't take one with their early pick.
End of 1st picks = about 600 points
Top of 2nd picks = about 500 points
Top of 3rd picks = about 250 points
