I'm not sure I would draft him. He looks a little... stiff.

— QB Spotlight (@QBspotlight) September 25, 2019

* I know not the start FIU wanted this season, but plenty of season left to get on a streak.
* Morgan healthy enough to gut it out last week & play, 29/41, 394yds passing,3tot tds,1int.
*Absolute dime here⬇️ don't count out FIU just yet pic.twitter.com/iCZFLWx9gL
If you haven't seen former FIU QB James Morgan play this year, tune into the @ShrineBowl this Sat
— QB Spotlight (@QBspotlight) January 13, 2020
*Excellent pre-snap reads
*Quick release, recognizes coverage
*Takes care of ball
*Set single season Pass TD record at FIU his Jr year
*Favorite play of his. Arm⬇️@DraftDiamonds pic.twitter.com/fhwQDvVNny
FIU QB James Morgan is toolsy enough to get on scouts' radar. Throws a lot of horizontal passes in their offense but can get it across the field. He's willing to take a hit, as is seen here. pic.twitter.com/hBThwwDvAn

Notes on players from my watch list:
LB CASEY TOOHILL, STANFORD
There were a few standouts from the West practice on Tuesday, with a number of players showing progress on Day 2. Stanford linebacker Casey Toohillhad a really good practice on Tuesday, displaying his versatility. To get started, Toohill easily beat blocks from Tennessee tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson. Toohill rocked Wood-Anderson back with power and then cut to the inside for his first win. He later used speed around the corner to get his second win. Toohill also had pretty good coverage on a wheel route from Illinois Reggie Corbin to help force an incompletion.
In the pass-rushing one-one-ones, Toohill used a fast spin move to the inside to get the better of Utah tackle Darrin Paulo, but Paulo won a rematch by using his length to tie up Toohill on a speed rush. In the team scrimmage, Toohill got pushed out of his gap by Alberta tackle Carter O'Donnell. Toohill would fit best in the NFL as a 3-4 outside linebacker who has the help of a five-technique end to help keep tackles off of him. In that scheme, Toohill could be a backup edge rusher, special teams contributor, and possibly work into a rotational pass-rusher role.
DT BRAVVION ROY, BAYLOR
Baylor defensive tackle Bravvion Roy had a strong practice on Tuesday, literally running over some offensive linemen in the one-on-ones. After pushing through for a few wins, he had a phenomenal rep on which he knocked La.-Lafayette guard Kevin Dotson flat on his butt before charging down the pocket. That rush caused a murmur from the scouts, and it was one the most impressive one-on-one pass-rush reps of the week. Roy may not get drafted, but he could compete for a roster spot as a backup nose tackle
DE AUSTIN EDWARDS, FERRIS STATE
On Monday, Ferris State defensive end Austin Edwards had an impressive session in the pass rushing one-on-ones, showing speed to get upfield and run around the corner. On Tuesday, he was not as effective including losing a rep to Wake Forest tackle Jake Benzinger, but Edwards came back to show his speed and strength getting leverage on an inside rush to charge down the pocket versus Alabama tackle Matt Womack. If Edwards plays well on Wednesday, he could earn himself at shot at being a late-round pick or priority free agent.
49ers Prospect Meetings on Day Two:
WR Mason Kinsey, Berry
CB Elijah Riley, Army
OT Jared Hillbers, Washington
RB Tony Jones Jr, Notre Dame*
* Underclassman

10:10 AM ET: WR Mason Kinsey is making it easy for the QBs in red-zone drills. He is so quick and such a good route runner, no one can cover him.
10:30 AM ET: Michigan's Jon Runyan has had a lot of good reps in drills today.
10:55 AM ET: Georgia's Eli Wolf has looked good in all aspects today. I still don't know if I like him as a TE or FB.
11:00 AM ET: WF's Jake Benzinger has struggled to handle the speed rush of Charlotte's Alex Highsmith.
3:00 PM ET: Notre Dame RB Tony Jones has ripped off a few impressive runs today.
3:10 PM ET: SDSU's Luq Barcoo and WVU's Keith Washington both struggling badly at the start of practice.

As a Navy fan, he has the potential. Coach Niumatalolo said he's the best athlete Navy Football has had since he's been there, and he's coached the team for 17 years (last 12 as head coach).
He's comparable in size to previous Navy QB Keenan Reynolds, but actually a bit more athletic.

49ers Scout Interviews from yesterday:
North Dakota State tight end Ben Ellefson
North Texas quarterback Mason Fine
Washington State wide receiver Dezmon Patmon also played well on Wednesday. He was really doing a nice job on out routes, getting open along the sideline and showing strong hands. Patmon (6-4, 223) could be a red-zone contributor who also plays on special teams.
Baylor defensive tackle Bravvion Roy had a good practice on Tuesday, and his Wednesday session was solid, but not as impressive. He had a nice win using a swim move to get past Washington offensive lineman Jared Hilbers in the one-on-ones, but there were other plays on which Roy was stonewalled. For the NFL, Roy (6-1, 333) needs to improve his conditioning given how he looked fatigued at times on Wednesday. Roy may not get drafted, but he could compete for a roster spot as a backup nose tackle.
Stanford linebacker Casey Toohill had a really good practice on Tuesday, displaying his versatility, and while he wasn't as good on Wednesday, he did have some pressures in the team scrimmage that showed his speed off the edge. Toohill needs to get stronger for the NFL, which would help him to take on and shed blocks. He gets in trouble when offensive linemen are able to get a hold of him. For the NFL, Toohill would fit best as a 3-4 outside linebacker who has the help of a five-technique end to help keep tackles off of him. In that scheme, Toohill could be a backup edge rusher, special teams contributor, and possibly work into a rotational pass-rusher role.
... Florida International's James Morgan has been the best quarterback on the East squad ... Morgan finished off his strong week with another quality practice on Wednesday. He has received a ton of interest from teams with almost every organization in the NFL holding interviews with him. From reading the tea leaves, the Colts, Chargers, Browns, and Raiders have shown the most interest in Morgan.
Seems like the Shrine Game and NFLPA Game are not getting much buzz at all due to a serious dearth of truly exciting talents.
The final practice of the East-West Shrine that team evaluators attend had a much smaller crowd as many scouts were already leaving St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, the caliber of talent at this year's East-West was down compared to past years and there will probably be far fewer players drafted from it then there were in 2019. Team sources at the NFLPA game in Los Angeles, Calif. say the talent in that game is severely lacking as well. There aren't high expectations for many players to get drafted from that All-Star game.

Prospects the 49ers Met With:
Florida punter Tommy Townsend, SMU safety Rodney Clemons, Miami linebacker Michael Pinckney, San Diego State cornerback Luq Barcoo, Stanford linebacker Casey Toohill, FIU Quarterback James Morgan
Interesting we're looking at a punter... Barcoo is a really impressive prospect though. Plays bigger than his 6-1 175 frame (doesn't look 175 either). AP All-American and led the nation in PBUs. Great fit for our scheme too. There's a lot to like with Clemons' game too. Terrific form tackler and a heavy, heavy hitter.
Seriously?

Interesting right? As a side note, all of these prospects come with obvious holes in their game as it's unlikely many get picked before the middle rounds. Barcoo apparently has had a nightmarish week of practice that hasn't matched his production with his team. You don't want to go and judge him based just off that, of course, but it's an interesting observation.

Looks like a potential NT in our scheme. I do kind of like John Penisini more as a true nose. Was studying some NT prospects and I think the biggest issue with Bravvion Roy is arm length. His arms are barely 30 inches -- I think they're the shortest out of any DT in this class that I've seen so far.
JP checks more boxes for me as a developmental NT. He has 33-inch arms (that's very good for an interior DL), was decently productive (7 TFL, 2 sacks), and of course has the right size (6-1 328). One issue I see is his get-off needs work. He's slow off the ball and doesn't appear to look at the ball at all before the snap to time his jump.
Best DL prospect out of everyone there this week was reportedly Arkansas DT McTelvin Agim. Read he was unblockable one-on-one every day of the week and there's speculation he'll get invited to the Senior Bowl now because he did so well. He's a guy that looks like a prime fit for us as a guy who could play both 3T and the 2i spots. If you watch him on tape, his get-off is fantastic and the ability to quickly get past the first guy is impressive. Very athletic for his size. 6-2 310 and expected to run in the low 4.9 range.

The top QB at @ShrineBowl? One scout says @FIUFootball's James Morgan (@Jmoneyyy12) is the best, by far. Plus, see @MoveTheSticks' 7 winners, and more.
