Jauan Jennings-WR-Tennessee

For some reason I thought I had already made this thread. Productive, bigger receiver that is a nightmare to bring down in the open field. Led the NCAA with broken tackles this year. Was a consistent playmaker on a subpar Vols team. Good size at 6'3", 210 but plays like he's a heck of a lot bigger.

If you want an ultra physical receiver that seeks out contact, this is your dude. He got that same Kittle/Deebo mindset, just always looking to run someone over or blow them up. Not the fastest guy but has the skills, instincts and determination to be a reliable high-end possession receiver at the next level.

Yeah he can hit, but can he catch?

Can you stop him in the open field?

Virtually all of those "highlights" will cost him $28,075 in the NFL.

Still tho.
Yikes. Multiple suspensions.

Would rather take a guy who plays on high intensity all the time and try to coach him up than go with a passive guy ala Pettis and hope you can motivate him to play hard.

Jones had some issues a few years back when the Tennessee coaching situation was garbage but by all accounts he has matured and been a model teammate and a leader. He's beloved by their fanbase the way Kittle is by 49ers fans.

It isn't an either/or proposition. I'd like a high-intensity player who doesn't repeatedly hurt his team. There are plenty of those.

Gotta love the way he plays though. Niners are the best YAC team in the NFL. Can't have too many skill players who run angry. He'd be an asset in the run game too.

Those blocks were illegal in the NFL, however. It is what it is.

I trust the niners talent staff to perform very thorough interviews leading up to the draft, especially on a player with so many red flags.

And no, his latest disciplinary issues weren't a "few years back." You're thinking of the team suspensions, and even some of those were more recent. He was suspended by SEC just last month. Alleged "accident" or not, he needs to square himself away or it's going to continue to hurt his team and cost him a lot of money in the pros.

Anyhow, I really like the player.

Fortunately for him, the Vols were able to come back from behind to win the Gator Bowl by a point after Jauan sat out the whole first half due to SEC suspension. I think he had two or three catches.

His coach had nothing but good things to say about him in the article I read. So hopefully he's put some of that immaturity aside like you said.
nice! I brought him up in another thread....he's a YAC machine that's allergic to getting tackled. Kyle seems to like that.

Man if SF goes WR I don't see it happening until like day 3. Just too many good WRs that will drop.
I'm our system we want WRs that enjoy and excel at blocking. While it looks like this kid would need to have the NFL rules explained to him, you can see how much he enjoys that part of the game. Seems like a nice fit to me.

Where is he supposed to go?

Some have speculated he could go as high as the 1st round. I think that's a bit high at this point, to be honest, but depending on interviews and all the other research/digging they do on him, the range he goes in could vary pretty wildly. If I'm trying to gauge him, I feel like I have to go somewhere in the middle on his draft stock. 2nd-3rd round seems safe to me. Still early in the process -- if everything checks out character-wise, I suppose it wouldn't be a total shock for him to go in the 1st, considering just how talented he really is.
