Please don't remind me of that disgusting epic fail by Baalke. Still not over it.

I still need to do a deep film dive on centers, I've just started watching Cushenberry more and... don't burn me at the stake here... but my initial impression of Cushenberry is NOT good.

So I can absolutely get behind going receiver early in this draft just cause they will be the BPA. I would personally love it if we could get an Edge cause I think that should be the highest priority but not reach and a IOL to compete and I'll be happy.

Yup end of the day you just have to draft good players. They could have 5 WRs with 1st rd grades and not even have a single IOL with a 1st or 2nd rd grade. What do you do? Go for the guy with the 3rd rd value because it's kinda a bigger need or get the much better prospect at a position that's actually still a need

Gotta take advantage of what the draft has...it so happens it's amazing at WR this yr.

Drop back 10 spots and get a WR and another value pick. Lloyd Cushenberry?

EDIT: Or drop that second pick even lower and Biadazs is there.

Lots of option in this draft to get a WR and another good player or two with that #31.

Honestly, I agree with you. I think he improved as the season went on and LSU used 5 man protections more than anyone in 2019. He's pretty athletic for his size. BUT overall is film is meh.

PFF gave him a poor grades in PP & zone blocking. They actually comp him to....wait for it....Laken Tomlinson

I think Senior Bowl week propped him up. He's not my #1 center. Ruiz is and even he's got some flaws. Imo there shouldn't be a IOL drafted in the first

Moving down and grabbing two guys that are BPA at WR/CB/IOL and I'll be a happy camper.

Not talented or a bad fit for Shanahans scheme?

This draft is loaded at WR and you'd be a moron to not take advantage of it.

Guess we should have passed on Bosa because they spent a ton of draft capital on DL.

Reaching for need when it's not close to the best prospect is a good way to have a s**tty team.

NY, you keep saying this, but it's apples to oranges. Nick Bosa plays arguably the second most important position in the game. WR and DL are not in the same stratosphere of importance. DL are foundational pieces; Wide Receivers are finishing touches. No team in the last twenty years has won a Superbowl because of their wide receiver core carried them. That's a fact.

The 49ers didn't lose the Superbowl because of their wide receivers. Not even close. The tape shows guys were wide open. They lost the Superbowl because the interior OL couldn't hold up in pass pro, their corners couldn't match up in man, and Jimmy failed to execute when they needed it most. Obviously, it doesn't look like the QB is getting replaced anytime soon, but the other two aspects are glaring needs that can be addressed.

As I've stated before, I don't care if they draft a wide receiver. BPA is BPA. But I also won't lose a nights sleep if they don't. It's just a wide receiver and to compare them to a pass rusher is asinine. At the end of the day, Shanny is paid a premium to draw up plays and get guys open, and he's never failed to do that.

He got manhandled against Auburn. Struggle to sustain, got thrown to the ground on one play, footwork looked really rough, and he got pushed back on so many plays I was really disappointed. I know it's just one game, but it was anything but impressive. First impression was that his movement reminded me a LOT of Garnett and Marcus Martin, and that's a big red flag for me.

Can he move? Yeah, probably. But I'm not a fan. Hennessy looks way better to me based purely on what limited footage I've watched so far.

There seems to be a question whether they can sign sanders and still keep AA. If it came down to that, I sign AA and let Sanders go and then draft a WR.

Why couldn't our CBS matchup in man? Was it because guys like Hill and Watkins are actually miss matches? I'd say Hill played a pretty damn important roll on that 3rd and 15? I'd say Julio's catch in the SB was something that not every WR could do. I'd say that catch by Jules after that wasn't something every WR can do? Santonio Holmes toe touching SB TD snag isn't something any Joe blow could have made etc etc...

My example with Bosa isn't poo pooing on the DL position. You know I'm a DL guy. It's showing that the whole don't draft said position because we spent capital on it is silly....It would be different if we actually got a bunch of talent from those picks BUT looking at this WR corp you can't truthfully say that.

If WR is such a unimportant position, why did Kyle invest so much into the position? If it's all about the scheme why the heck was Pettis sitting on the butt bench most of the season? Why did James get 10 catches all yr? Why is the CB so coveted? Isn't there job to cover those unimportant WRs?

As of right now we have Deebo/Pettis/james as the only guys under contract that actually touched a football in the regular season

Well, that's obvious: the team doesn't have the talent to do so. Watkins didn't do squat all year, but he smoked a 31-year-old, shell-of-himself Richard Sherman.

Again, our WRs were wide open in the Superbowl. Hell, Kittle was wide open. And I strongly emphasize wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide open. The WRs weren't why this team didn't win the Superbowl.

Deebo will be back; KB will be back(RFA); The only question is Sanders. But Kyle strongly emphasized the importance of having a vet in that room, so I expect him to be back as well. Drafting another WR doesn't fill that void.

Also I never said we lost because of our Wrs. If we're gonna go down that road we might as well look for another QB.
