Yup I've seen this brought up multiple times regarding his football IQ. He fits this scheme overall very well.

He's not gonna be a guy that you're leaving on an island. great man corners will get scooped up early... might as well go get a guy that can come in and play C3 from day one (that can be had later in the draft) if you can't get a CB early.

Question, did you watch and know about this kid during the season or he popped up on your radar at the combine ? I'm not to familiar with him

Kinda drawn towards Iowa players in general because of their coach. They also run a similar scheme to us. So makes some sense to look in that direction.

Most of my research happens towards the end of the college yr. I watch a lot of college ball, but really start digging into prospects (especially the ones that aren't top end guys) later in the yr and into the off season. Try to focus on positions we need to upgrade.

I had Oje on my radar (after Michigan game) and wanted to see how well he was gonna run. Speed was kinda his issue.

I listen to a s**t ton of draft pods, read a ton of scouting reports, watch whatever I can, and listen to people's options that I value.

I agree on Iowa players. They don't get the big name 5 star athletes but they usually are very competitive in the Big 10. They must have really good coaching because their players seem to do well in the NFL.

Gotcha, who would you compare him to ? Not sure if you said it already

Ojemudia doesn't play small and loves to hit.

this is from Crabbs on TDN

Competitive Toughness - Love his combativeness, both at the LOS with his hands and in run support. He's got big eyes for laying hits and will successfully crash the party when he's stepping up onto the edge. His ability to stay on the hip despite hand fighting is effective as he carries routes vertically.

Run Support - He's an affectionate tackler in that he loves to hit. He's quick to peel off his zone landmark and step down. He isn't always the most secure tackler in that he'll routinely cut but he's got the attitude necessary to be an asset on the boundary of a team defensive effort against the run.

Tackling - Tackle radius is good and his assertive challenges put him in a position to be successful against bigger backs. He's effective catching the body at the catch point as well, won't give up a ton of cheap yards by haphazardly attacking the ball — unless he knows he's going to get home.

Player Summary - Michael Ojemudia projects as a scheme specific starter at the next level. Ojemudia is physical, he's smart and he's effective in zone coverage. His lack of transitional quickness and long speed to cover vertically will force teams to make some concessions regarding his usage and system, but defenses that task their corners with primarily working zone coverage and task their corners with playing with physicality and length are going to be drawn to Ojemudia's skill set. Think Seattle's physical C3.

Yeah, I was just speaking in general. I really like what I've seen this kid. We need to address CB. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sherm fall off a cliff next season I think he skated by on his rep more than his play this season, but the Chiefs may have exposed that in the SB. Ahkello is trash.

Yeah I got CB near the top of the priority list.

Yeah Kirk Ferentz has been the coach there forever. He coached under Belichick when he was in Cleveland.

Invest in CBs every year. The 49ers DL will horde all the cap space (AA, Buck, Ford, in a few years Bosa). Must find cheap rookie deals in the secondary.

Yup.
Can someone explain why CJ Henderson is so widely liked. I swear we have that guy on our team already wearing 23. While Okudah is a f**king dawg and I wish he would fall to 13.

I feel like this is the sleeper position group for the 49ers 1st round target, but I could be wrong.
