You don't need a Mahomes to take advantage of deep speed like that. Sure having a guy like Mahomes REALLY makes guys like Hill, Ruggs dangerous because the QB can just launch the ball and those guys can run up to them.
I'm confident Jimmy has enough arm to utilize that type of speed, especially with Kyle's play design.
And blaming Rugg's lack of catches/production as a way of diminishing his speed is silly. Bama was stacked at WR his whole career there
Calvin Ridley, Irv Smith Jr, Jeudy, Devonta Smith...only so many catches to go around.
Ruggs isn't Marquise Goodwin. He has the speed but he also runs a full route tree, gets production all over the place when he gets the ball and has made the most of his catches with great hands.
People acting like Ruggs isn't a polished WR just because he's fast aren't looking at him enough.
I'm not saying Ruggs has bad hands or poor moves. I only said that in reference to why the really fast guys haven't produced as much as their speed would dictate. I just think Jeudy is a little better and apparently they did at Alabama too. He had nearly twice as many catches as Ruggs did in his SR. year.
That said, I would be happy with Ruggs but I doubt either one of them will be there when we pick. Both the Jets and Raiders could grab either one of them before #13. We can hope there is the usual run on QBs and O tackles are high on teams' list this year too so maybe one slips into our hands. Jeudy, Ruggs or Lamb would all be great. Even if we trade back alittle to get a later 1st and get a 2nd or 3rd rounder, we can still get a good receiver that can help this team.
