Not sold on 49ers picking a WR with 13th Pick

In a year with no training camp, and maybe even a shortened season, their contribution will be minimal. I bet every GM is considering the covid impact right now on their draft decisions. I wouldn't be surprised if stud WRs free fall. And the same goes for all the top QB. If a GM is going to take a Burrows or Tua, its not to have them start right away. Not possible with no training camp. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray were good in their rookie years, but if you deprived them of training camp and the opportunity to really study their respective playbooks, they would not be throwing 22 and 20 TDs respectively. This is the year that QB competitions are going to be one sided in favour of the incumbent QB who has a couple of seasons under the current coach. IMHO, no rookie QB will start until maybe midway thru the season.

I guess you could say that about every single position, if you're bringing up no training camp

"rookie WR will be lucky to get 500 yards and 5 TDs no matter how good he is."

guess you can't even look back a yr and see Deebo and AJ brown going for over 800 yards. Teams are throwing the ball more than ever.

Again, that's not why they made the move for Sanders. Goodwin at X was hurt all year and eventually went on I.R. Pettis was useless esp. after coming in for Sanders after he cracked his ribs. Hurd and Taylor were also on I.R. Bourne slid over to the slot so Deebo could focus on just the Z.

In short, we had no human bodies for the X. And we had to pay for it too which is why John Elway charged so much for a veteran who already wanted out of there anyhow.

FWIW Sanders played all over the field, not just at split end. Sanders was also a dependable WR with great hands. Something this team didn't have.

Guess what they don't have that again deebo is a good young WR BUT he also dropped a f**k ton of balls. They do need a go-to guy when a catch is needed on 3rd down outside of Kittle. They do need speed or at least a threat to catch deep balls.

Sure. Bourne still took snaps at Z again, Deebo to the slot, Sanders in the slot. But clearly, X was his primary position the mass majority of the time.

And you're right, we still have a hole there today.

You definitely could say that...might be easier for OL and DL as they will have teammates in between them in the huddle and on the line to remind them of what to do on each play.

But to your point, this is going to be a major challenge for any rookie no matter where they play esp. within Kyle's offense.
Oh man. Videos of him being a Kentavius Street in the workout room...didn't he blow out a knee too? Perfect!

At least it Seems like Peter King has had a good history of getting along with the current FO the past few years...also this FO has done a great job of not showing its hand as to its draft preferences, contract dispositions/negotiations and team secrets overall, ( much,much better than the previous FO ), so we'll see if PK is correct shortly, but it is the time of the draft season where the smoke generators are working overtime.....

Kinlaw didn't tear his ACL. Street isn't in the same realm as Kinlaw as far as talent goes.
Kinlaw wouldn't be my preference but I wouldn't hate the pick either. Dude has some Chris Jones like tools. If he puts it together and playing on our DL should make things a little easier for him...that line can be pretty beastly again.

If they can move down and get him, I could live with it. This team needs to balance out the top end talent across the board though.

Can't keep investing top end 1st rd picks at one position group and expect to keep all of them LT. I feel like that should be a goal with a 1st r pick, being able to resign them after their rookie deal. Moving buck for Kinlaw would be a money move and that's it. Downgrade in talent.

His ceiling is Chris Jones, his realistic comp imo is Michael Brockers.

If they were that desperate for IDL they would've restructured Jimmy and resigned Buckner.
Taking a DT at 13 would be a total buzzkill.
Bourne=Good redzone WR, but not an every down WR. He's a good #4 WR and maybe #3
Hurd=question mark. Not even sure if he will be healthy enough to play
Taylor=question mark. Also getting over injuries.
Goodwin=question mark
Pettis=question mark
Wilson JR=Might not even make the team if they find a special teams replacement.

As of now we only have Deebo we can count on at the WR position, as far as playing every down. Even without Defo the Niners have the best Dline in the league.

Wilson Jr is a WR?
