Ezra Cleveland-OT-Boise State

Another player that the 49ers have met/Skyped/Facetimed with during this quarantined pre-draft process. Cleveland is someone that I brought up early last season as a good fit for a zone blocking scheme and its not shocking to see the 49ers show interest. He's not in the first tier of tackles but definitely is in the second. If you're looking at a very quick-footed, superbly athletic tackle, Cleveland fits the bill. If you need a powerful tackle than can knock people around and impose his will upon them, this is not your guy. The talent is all there, he's just sloppy with his technique and in need of some pro level coaching.

Think he's got enough strength to play inside? I can't see SF using a top 50 pick on a backup tackle who's not strong enough to play inside.

He put up 30 reps at the combine, which surprised alot of people. He doesn't play with that kind of strength, but he does it have it. Impressed in just about every metric at the combine. Could certainly do well with some added muscle on him, and the fact that he is incredibly athletic right now makes me believe he could support the weight well. Coaching, technique, experience, added weight and he should play stronger.

Can he play inside? We didn't see that at Boise. Always played LT. Doesn't seem to have that road grader hog molly mentality or build. But he could be a functional backup along the line for a year. I'm sure he would see playing time, and then obviously next year would slide into a starting role.

I agree that he isnt the best OL prospect for our immediate needs. Staying pat at 13 and 31 and he is not on my immediate board. But if we move around and acquire extra picks, he could become a second round target. More than likely he goes to someone with an immediate need at RT, or a building team that gives him some time to solidify himself as a LT.
Would love this, if only we had more day 2 picks...
I don't think he'll be there at 31. Seems like OT is a need for nearly every team

I think he's like Austin Corbett where offseason performance is driving a lot of the hype but he's really a scheme specific player. He'll bomb if he goes to the wrong one.
I wouldn't draft him, but he's going early
Led tackles in five categories: the 40, Wonderlic (30), bench press (30), short shuttle (4.46) and 3-cone (7.26).

"Welcome to the 49ers, your locker is that way. If you could try to be more like that Joe Staley guy and less like that Kwame Harris guy, we'd be much obliged!"

dang ol dang
Seahawks have his name in a envelope
I'd be okay with Ezra, but we are too short on picks to be messing around. Ideally, this guy sits behind Staley for a year and learns from the best. Gets bigger and stronger and steps right in the following year. But we dont have that luxury. Need contributors from the first round and the second if we move back.

Good, because you may as well consider him a 49er right now.
